Does anyone know if you sign up for the HD deal if it has to replace your main Sky box (ours is a Sky+ in the lounge) or if it would be possible to get the HD box to replace our old none Sky+ box currently in the bedroom as part of multiroom?

We were looking to buy a Sky+ for the bedroom but as we have a HD TV in there would like to take this deal instead.

Last month - we could process sky sales "faking the customer bought TV bit"...

however - they changed the microsite now with the new offers... it actually asks for the order number! (grrr) .. buy a tv.. get it refunded! aha.

comet n currys offers seem to be the same by the looks of it xD

currys can still do it by creating a £0.00 receipt for skydeal and putting that number in
  • signed up yesterday to the £49 HD deal, received text today telling me it will take 4 months to get the order processed............... unreal !!!

We currently have Sky in my name but Sky+ has been ordered in hubbys name. What will happen our existing Sky box which we own? When would we need to cancel Sky and can we have Sky in the bedroom to watch the free viewing channels while we have Sky+ in the sitting room? Will we need one or two Sky dishes?
  • Just received an email about the progress of my order and it said that there would be a max 4 month wait!!!!! Now I don't quite understand this as we signed my mil for an upgrade to a HD+ box on Saturday and hers is being installed on the 5th February!!!! To those who have a similar 4 month wait, do you guys have a sky+ box already? We dont but my mil does and I can only think this has something to do with the wait, as in maybe the engineer simply needs to swap the boxes over without installing extra wires wtc?

not sure when it expires, i had a look at the first link and decided to ring them as we couldnt get the deal without multi room (we already have this) we were offered the sky hd box on its own for £49 plus £30 instalation or we could get our sky+ box that we already have moved into a different room and get sky hd for just £49 to do this we have to pay an extra subscription of £10 a month for the multi room which we got reduced to £5 per month for 6 month and our oldest gets sky+ in his room until he goes to uni so everyone is happy, we are paying a bit more but getting more for our money as we had planned on another multi room anyway.

    so in conclusion

sky Hd plus intallation £79 then £9.75 per month subscription
    or
sky Hd plus multi room £49 plus £9.75 per month hd subscription plus £10 per month multi room subscription for 12 months, you can haggle the price of multi room and packages to get it cheaper

instead of sky Hd £199 plus £9.75 per month subscription

all can be cancelled after 12 months and any equipment is yours to keep

i rang sky and they have told me that because i already have a multi-room i would have to pay an extra £30 for instalation as the free instalation for multiroom is if you are taking multiroom for the 1st time....

Has anyone actually phoned sky and found out if they will haggle a bit?

I wanted sky for my son's bedroom but already have it in my room and sky+ downstairs, don't think i can justify the extra cost - unless they drop one of the charges.

i tried to haggle charges today, lady was not budging, you dont actually pay anything yet, they just register your interest so i will try again when they say i can book instalation and have to pay....
not happy at having to pay £30 instalation when i want multi-room..
  • I tried to get this deal last week and after major moaning and grumbling i got what i was wanting. Im currently a sky subscriber with multiroom which i have a 50% discount on till July. Got the HD package for £49 with my current box being moved to another room at no extra cost however have to take HD package and second multiroom subscription for a year.

I'm getting my installation in March. I don't think Sky handled this very well. Their customer service is pretty poor at best.
