Only saw this thread the other day whilst I was looking for SkyHD deals. I was very interested in getting HD, but not so keen on the installation charge seeing as I already have a quad LNB for Sky+, the £9.75 monthly charge or the 3 month wait! As an existing customer, Sky were less than forthcoming with any decent offer even when I called and spoke to cancellations. Wouldn't budge on the installation charge or monthly £9.75 - The best they could do for me was to reduce the waiting period from 12 weeks to 6 weeks.

Anyway, I ended up cancelling there and then and signed up again through Quidco online under my wife's maiden name. Used the same address, phone number and bank details but it all seems to have gone through ok because I had a confirmation email within 5 minutes confirming my installation date of 10th April.

I'm one very happy bunny at the moment, all thanks to MSE! Cheers!

I have also ordered skyhd with my name, as currently it is in my partners. I have not yet cancelled his sky+ though as I wanna watch the recorded programmes. Do you think this will be a problem? I am gonna phone them and cancel next week.
  • You need to give 30 days notice for cancelation, so depending on your install date you might be paying for two subscriptions but only viewing the one. hth

Sorry if I'm being completely thick here, but as someone who's never had Sky (we have Freeview), but has an HDTV and has just bought a 22 in TV from Tesco (picking it up tomorrow), does this deal include supply and installation of a dish as well? I've tried to understand the Sky terms and conditions, but they may as well be written in Greek!

Is there anywhere that sets out the options and monthly payments clearly? It looks like one of the main benefits would be for HD with Sky Sports, but that seems to be an extra £30 or so a month so I don't really understand what I'd be getting with this deal.

  • Just to let you folks know, I signed up for HD online during the special offer, but also had to take a phone subscription at £10 a month because Sky needs a phone line. I called Sky a few days later and said I was going with Virgin for the phone line instead, so they cancelled it. I didn't get a phone line at all. I have had Sky HD+ for a month or two now with no phone line and no problems, so a saving of £10 a month and no unsightly wire running along my wall.
