SKY HD New deal on website

I too hear Sky have a backlog of old Thomson HD boxes, just like when they did Sky+ cheap they had a load of refurbished Amstrad+ boxes to use up. (I know I got given one!) I wouldn't want an old Thomson as they have many issues.
I got one from Tesco in a box for £197 but my Sky+ box was dying so I needed a new one of some sort anyway. So no subscription and its the latest Pace box which has worked like a dream - so quiet! I get BBC & CH4 HD channels and while its nice its not THAT good (not £120 a year good IMHO) and I have a decent telly. don't be fooled by the £2500 Sony telly's in the shops running Blueray DVD, it won't be like that for most people.
When or if they go free on HD then I am all set to get it, until then I have a brilliant new up-to-date 'Sky+' box!
Even if Sky send out a new HD box for you, there is no guarantee that the installer will bring it, some flog them on Ebay for profit (take a look) and install an old box they have removed as it failed from someones house, they just fix them up with a new hard drive or swap parts around.0 -
Hi first post for me so hi everyone :hello: ,
Right HD i have normal sky box no + , if i was to get HD can i do away with sky sports and movies and get them all on HD for the £9.75 a month or is it just a con to get more money from you charging you twice for the same channels.0 -

You are correct in your second assumption. The program makers will only be making content in HD level now anyway - Sky will be having to dumb down the programmes resolution coming in to 'standard definition' so I don't believe it costs them a penny! (except they have to lay on extra transmission channels -which they control anyway) so yes you are paying over again for the same channels except they are transmitted as they were made instead of being lowered in quality!!!!0 -

yes strictly ture, we can process it and just say you got a tv!!!
so:
new customers £29 for sky hd box free install
existing customers £29 for sky hd box free install as long as you subscribe to multiroom
THIS IS THE BEST DEAL AROUND!!!:beer:0 -
If your box is "brown-boxed", is it possible to tell the installer not to bother installing it? I do not want some second hand box when I have paid £49 for what I would expect to be a new box.0

Thanks Moonpie - just been on the website (through wepromiseto) so £100 cashback, £50 M+S vouchers (click on homepage first - 3 days left!) and £50 for the box and free install (signed in the wife's name)
That's £30 chaeper than the Sky retentions team could do.:T:beer::T
I can't find a link on the wepromiseto page for the Sky HD deal. I tried going to the Sky homepage but that didnt come up on the cashback alerter either.0 -
This might seem a stupid question, but how can you swap the subscription over to your husband/wife to take advantage of the special offers? Sky told us if we want to cancel we have to put it in writing and give 28 days notice, so surely then we are going to pay for that month twice, if I took the new subscription now in my name? Has anyone actually had their partner/spouse sign up on a new customer contract and got the cashback from Quidco and the £50 in M&S vouchers? Sorry if these are silly questions but I just don't want to mess up and end up with no Sky for a month and no cashback either!0

Last month - we could process sky sales "faking the customer bought TV bit"...
however - they changed the microsite now with the new offers... it actually asks for the order number! (grrr) .. buy a tv.. get it refunded! aha.
comet n currys offers seem to be the same by the looks of it xD0 -

jaytin...
cancel sky... tell them you moved house. (you may not get that month refunded though!)
Take out sky in a DIFFERENT name. "hi sky, I just moved in.. I'd like....."0 -
Has anyone actually phoned sky and found out if they will haggle a bit?
I wanted sky for my son's bedroom but already have it in my room and sky+ downstairs, don't think i can justify the extra cost - unless they drop one of the charges.I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)0
