I have a friend who has just got a job with Sky installing boxes.
He says sky have loads of refurbished Sky+ HD boxes that they have to clear from the warehouse to make room for new stock.
If your "new" box comes in a brown box it's a refurb probably made by Thomson
  • hello.

gonna take multi room, in bedroom dont have one line for 2nd box is this a problem
    thanks

i thought that sky dishes could have quad (4 connectors) or even 8 connectors???

The dish, yes, but they'd only have two feeds that you could attach your box to. You could pay for the extra feed, I'm sure.

Extra £10 a month so you'll be paying £120 a year for HD im sure you can get freesat boxes cheaper than that and it will be for life smile.gif

    Cheapest one in Argos..... http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5321564/c_1/1%7Ccat_12108813%7CDigital+boxes+and+services%7C12108960/Trail/searchtext%3EFREESAT.htm

    Plus installation...
    NOTE:
This product needs a fully installed working satellite dish to operate.

Installation can be purchased, catalogue number 5270086 at £80.00.

You have to remember that you can cancel after 12 months and would still get your bbc, ch4, and maybe itv hd channels for free, plus the option to upgrade again if you want and more normal channels with sky freesat!

I'd really appreciate your help about phone lines. My present set up is a standard box and I have a cable telephone. Therefore, I can't use sky interactive. However, the standard box which I've had 11 years receives all the sky TV packages I want to view.

I would like to have a sky+HD Box but will it only work with a fixed telephone line? Have any cable telephone users managed to get the Box?

I tried phoning sky this morning and told the girl I didn't have a landline telephone. She said the offer was only for those taking a telephone! Perhaps in a few months the offer will be to those without a phone also!

I would like to have a Sky+HD Box but will it only work with a fixed telephone line? Has any cable telephone users managed to get the Box.

    I'm totally Puzzled

Try reading this thread, sorry I can't give a definite answer as I don't have any experience of cable

    Hi moonpie,
thanks for the link which I've been reading. I'm still not sure what the answer is, because some posters on the link say it does work but others say you need a BT line.

I'll need to think it over and make a decision,

    Thanks again, Genny

    I don't understand the problem.
I have Sky+ and I have a cable telephone. I can use all the interactive services and the games.
There was no problem with me having a cable line. It just means they can't sell me the phone packages :)
