Thanks jembie,
I was thinking their telling me I needed a landline phone might be a bit of a ruse so that I would switch to another company.
Thanks for your info, Genny0 -
Read somewhere yesterday that Sky have over 700,000 customers signed up for their Sky HD package.
That's £7,000,000 a month only on HD subscriptions.
That's £84,000,000 a year only on HD subscriptions.
Do you still think they are going to waive the monthly fee??0 -
Thank you OP for posting this offer! Wanted Sky Plus for ages but too expensive so I decided to upgrade to HD Plus tonight. I went through Quidco but it has tracked at £0.0

Sorry about Quidco.
If anyone thinks this is a good offer and takes it up would you mind thanking me officially, only 5_princesses (28-01-2009), Jo4 (Yesterday), LICAPICA (28-01-2009), look after the pennies (Today) have done so. Thanks to them.0 -
Hi Moonpie,
not your fault about quidco! I was willing to take the chance to see if I would get cashback from there! Still a fantastic deal though as I wouldn't have paid full price for a sky plus box!0 -

Glad to know I've helped someone - this is what this is forum is all about after all - consumers getting the best deal available for their needs.0 -
Read somewhere yesterday that Sky have over 700,000 customers signed up for their Sky HD package.
When our subscription runs out on March, Sky will have 699,999 customers on their HD package. For those yet to make up their minds, just bear in mind that no-one has yet to praise Sky HD on this thread...
We've had it for just under a year - we watched Rush HD for half an hour after the box was first installed. Yes, the quality is nice, especially when you're watching outdoor scenes. But apart from looking at the pretty snowboarding pictures on my tv, there's very little availability on the other channels, unless you pay extra for the sports or movies.
Only very occasionally when the BBC remind us that the show we're about to watch is also available in HD do we remember to switch over.
In the current climate, if you're trying to save money, I really wouldn't bother wasting your money on HD. I can think of much better ways to spend £10 a month (or £20 if you're convinced by the SA that you also need multiroom. We didn't).
And while I'm at it, we had three HD boxes before we got one that worked. With the first one, we recorded 6 episodes of Lost (in HD!) and then the box died with the episodes un-watched and lost forever. Very apt. Even this one took lots of updates via the telephone before we could finally watch tv on it in the correct manner. It kept on 'losing' or failing the programs I recorded. I begged them to take the box away and cancel our subscription and give me a normal sky+ box back. They wouldn't.
So my advice? Don't pay for Sky HD.0 -

I'll be the first to say it then - HD is amazing. We watch a film every night in HD, and I watch 3 games of football each weekend.
It pains me that ITV only have their HD deal with Freesat, cos SD football is virtually not worth watching.
Like I've said previously, HD probably isn't worth your while, at the moment, if you don't have movies & sports; otherwise, it's virtually a 'must'0 -

Thanks Moonpie - just been on the website (through wepromiseto) so £100 cashback, £50 M+S vouchers (click on homepage first - 3 days left!) and £50 for the box and free install (signed in the wife's name)
That's £30 chaeper than the Sky retentions team could do.:T:beer::T0
