hi very interested in this deal however
i have a sky box in my living room and for cosmetic reasons the cable from the satellite dish is hidden behind our skirting board before going into the back of the current sky box- if i get sky hd will the cable need to be replaced or can they use the same cable?
and does the sky hd box need to be constantly linked to the phone socket????
    cheers for the post

I think Sky+ and/or HD boxes have an additional cable running from the dish?

Also it is part of the 12 month contract that the box is connected to a phone line - well at least until the installer-guy leaves anyhow ;)

I'm really tempted, even with the £10 a month, it's still cheaper than getting a freesat HD box, a couple of my friends have it and think it's definatly worth it, just have to see if I can justify with us all being in a Credit Crunch.

Also quite tempted to call up and say I want to cancel and see if they offer free install or money off my subscription.

Hmm, isn't there a 9-10 week wait as well, so do you have to pay for it now and wait til it's installed or do you pay when it's been installed, if you know what I mean!

    Just tracked the order

"You have successfully registered to upgrade. We expect you should be able to complete your order in 2 to 4 weeks"
  • I recently quit Sky as they wouldn't give me a good deal on HD and was due to be switched off on 6th Feb. After hearing about the price change, I rang and the lady said they would have to charge me £30 install charge as I already have multi-room. She then told me that if I had someone else living here, then they could sign up instead. I got OH on phone and he completed the deal with 1 month free on the full package. After that we can choose which channels we want. And as an added bonus it's being installed on Wednesday as we can't manage Tuesday.
  • just got our email and text confirming our order we had been told we would be put on a waiting list and could be waiting upto 3 months, we ordered yesterday getting it installed a week on Tuesday, so 2 week wait, others may be quicker but our is "special hieghts" so is usually a little longer but very happy with 2 weeks

for those that asked about payment, as i said we ordered yesterday and paid no money at all, today when they confirmed the order and instalation date we then had to pay the £49 charge for the box but nothing more until it is installed and working

Really? Anytime we have disconnected either of our boxes from the phone line we've had letters (and sometimes a phonecall) telling us it is in the terms and conditions we MUST have the phoneline connected.

I'm interested in HD but I feel like I'm paying Sky a small fortune every month as it is so I'll leave it for a while for now.

yes we have never had it plugged in and sky have never contacted us about it, when we have had any instalation i have always told them we dont have the phone line in, they put a temp one that stretches across the lounge floor and out into the hallway to our box as you say it is in sky`s T&Cs they just tell us to do what we like with it when they have gone
