P-P - that curry sounds very interesting ! Happy cooking!
Catowen - Great news about your boiler! I expect we'll have to get a new one soon, and I'm not looking forward to it as i know we'll have to get a condenser boiler and I haven't heard of anyone who's exactly thrilled to bits with theirs!
Michelle - what a pain about the mortgage statement! I suppose you can't track down a phone no for the Portman? Maybe on their website? (I presume they have one!)
MATH - Your message box needs emptying! Took me ages to type my PM out too! LOL0 -

Snap Lucie and others - I'm just home from work via supermarket - he's just left for work via Badminton court. I had to remove thee 6 glasses he had on his bedside cabinet - I have steadfastly refused to move them all week - moaning at him to do it - but had to do it myself. After emptying DW then filling it again, tidying up ...oops forgot made his mac cheese for dinner tonight as soon as I came in, put rubbish out etc etc.
I know it is early but the wine is out ... sorry but

Now I need to go and round up my socks as I can hear the eldest cat bringing them down the stairs - she does this one at a time - calling as she goes

Hi everyone, I have missed you all!! Got hit by a huge computer virus 3 days ago and it's taken DH this long to sort it out. Never mind, I'm back now.
Car MOT'd today. It cost more for the test than to put it rightAnd DH has treated me to a sewing machine. Can't wait to try it out

Good Day to all....I am very happy today :j I went to pick up a book I wanted from a nice lady on Freecycle who responded to my 'wanted' request - It was an old cookery book that I thought may be useful for frugal cooking (Kitchen in the hills - the Hovel cookbook - Elizabeth West) It was written by somebody living in a cottage in Wales making do with stuff from the garden and her store cupboard. As I am now coming down with the dreaded bug that has kept DS off school for a whole week - it's beans on toast all round and I shall take to my bed with the stone hot water bottle, and my new book for company.
Better still the Freecycle lady lived just around the corner from Borough market, so popped in for yummy bargain haslet at 50p a 1/4lb and a sizeable ham hock for soup at £2.95 plus some organic fruit at 50p a throw. Also got some marked down North Staff Oatcakes for 50p a packet. I haven't had those for years, don't think many places in London sell them.
Regards

Its been a funny old day, today. DH was in an extraordinarily good mood this morning, which suddenly changed to an extraordinarily bad mood this afternoon - all because I spent some time answering an online questionnaire and was rewarded with a Half Price holiday voucher for Haven Holiday camps. The price would amount to between £80-£100, and there is plenty of time to save for an off-peak date, but he seemed to think that it was unachievable and unrealistic of me. *blink* Sometimes, actually a lot of the time, I just don't understand how he works. ~shakes head ruefully~ Oh well, I'll stash it away and bring it out again some other time when things might make it look more achievable, who knows.
Other than that, we've just tucked into a superlative beef stew with herby dumplings done in the SC. I bought a joint of beef for £3.20 and cut it into two - so there's another great stew able to happen next week. Its beautifully flavoured and there's at least one portion of the stew left, to go in the freezer. So, this week, we've put three single meal portions of various leftovers in the freezer. *beam* Fantastic.
I've made a coconut and cherry cake for the weekend - I remember my Mum always used to make a weekend cake and I feel really good when I get time to be able to do that. It smelled fabulous and looks the part, so hopefully it will go down very nicely with a cuppa.
I'm so up to date with the washing that I've been able to take a bye-day on that task today. That never happened before finding OS, so that's another good thing!
Oh! Oh! I nearly forgot - goodness, how could I have nearly forgotten? LOL Last night, (I started at about 3pm, but then had to do other things for a couple of hours) I sewed my very first stuffed plushie toy! Whoop! Now you won't know this, but sewing and me have been two of the most incompatible things you could ever imagine, in the past. However, I now have a plushie Guinea Pig, who looks every inch the part. I got the kit from Hobbycraft with my £5 consolation voucher and dismembered an old bed pillow for the stuffing.I'm so pleased with myself! My old sewing teacher from donkey's years ago, would be amazed. *chuckle* I really enjoyed doing him, even if I did sew non-stop until about 11.30pm, and its given me all sorts of ideas for gifts for animal-loving, plushie-fancying friends for next Christmas. Next, the furry snail or the green dragon, I think!
Right, better get the dishes done (no DW in our house), feed the dogs and the real Guinea Pig, get the WM loaded ready for tomorrow morning and be in front of the t.v. ready for the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony at 6pm.
Zzzzzzooooooommmmmmm ........:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Hi everyone,
I have neglected this board recently, been feeling out of sorts.
Have had the WM on the go but need to move the doors from in front of dryer (we took all the bedroom doors off to paint) lounge is spotless, had to get on my hands and knees with a dust pan and brush cos the belt has snapped in my hoover, had the scaffolding put up around the house today for the new roof so the baby hasn't been getting much sleep.
All I have to do today is reheat yesterdays leftover pasta and wash the pots, might also finally bother to edit my eTMA for OU, wrote it ages ago and did far too many words so I have to sort it so it all still makes sense
Bye for now XX
