If you use spray paint, take the cabinets outside first.
You'd be amazed the distance an aerosol will carry that stuff...all over my bathroom carpet - the bits that hadn't got a protective layer of newspaper! :mad:Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800 -
Hi Yall, Lovely bright morning, I could see for about 12 miles walking home from school much nicer than mist 'n' fog. All the lane hedges were layered by the council this Autum and now they are really starting to come alive with bulbs and birds popping in and out. I think Spring is on it's way:j
Had a busy morning and now the house is clean from top to bottom. Three loads of washing are draped over various airers and the wax is drying on the kitchen tiles.
My MIL sent Mrs MATH home with a batch of V expensive towels (Egyptian cotton from Harrods) which she said were "fit for rags" the last lost of fit for rag towels she sent me we used for 15 years. LOL so new towels all round. Some very nice cotton embroidered anglaise bedding in the bottom of the bin bag too so the M&S circa 1994 may hit the rag bag now.
The MATHLETTS are at Valentines discos/bowling tonight so an in and out night:mad: I was hoping to get my jimjams on before Coronation St and then settle to watch American Idol:( Mrs MATH has called to tell me not to bother with dinner tonight she will "sort it" when she gets home so it's not all bad infact it's brill not cooking Fri, Sat or Sun (yay)
Off to Lincoln tomorrow and at Mum and Dads on Sunday so I'll be AWOL until Monday.
Have a great weekend.

I "made over" my filing cabinet a year ago cos it just wasnt girly enough:D You can buy spray cans with lots of different effects and colours (hammerite rings a bell) and its dead easy you just clean it up and then spray it - (I have a stone effect green filing cabinet now which looks great) have a nosey in your local DIY and i think you will be surprised how gorgeous you can make it.;)0 -

If you are worried about spray painting you could try Fablon or sticky backed plastic.
I covered a grotty white chest freezer with Fablon so it now looks like stainless steel - got it cheap from Leeds market."This site is addictive!"

I'm being brave today and letting husband pick kids up (he's got Friday night off so a quick sleep and he's OK).
Got to go to Tesco's after work so again I'm trusting him to put the baked potatoes in the oven, you should have seem him this morning, asking me how to do it - Bless!
He's also going away for the weekend to get muddy in the welsh mountains so I get the weekend to myself - I love him dearly but it's going to be lovely to be by myself (except for the children) -- I can see very long baths coming! :j
Breakfast - bran flakes
lunch - cheese sandwich
tea - tuna and sweetcorn with baked potatoes ( I hope)0 -
Afternoon everyone.
I've been trying my hardest to have a good day as its Friday, that was until the postman came.
1) car tax bill - my car this month - £110
2) no mortgage statement - still. Aren't you supposed to get these things in Jan???? We want to know how big an affect the scrimping and scraping to overpay is having. Unfortunately we are with the Portman, and no branches up north to just pop into.
3) credit card bill arrived. This in itself was not too big as the fiasco with dodgy transactions meant we were without cards to use over 2 weekends, so less than half of normal. :T
however, when they gave us a new card they did a balance transfer, and didn't transfer our reward points that we collect - so £56 of points (in reality vouchers for B and Q to do up the front room) up the swannee. I would ring to complain, but they will only deal with DH as it is in his name. I am going to be fighting this one though, so DH best put his complaing head on as i've just found a number out for the 24 hour call centre for when he gets in.
Sounds like there is good news for some of you.
yay catowen for the boiler - that will save you a fair bit
math - well done you as well for the towels and bedding - one mans trash is anothers treasure as they say. About 75% of the things in our house have come from the relatives chucking perfectly good stuff out. £3000 leather sofa and chairs because it was cream and it got mucky too quick - coffee table as it didn't match (although i admit this is a bit ugly)
filing cabinets - there was a great second hand shop when i lived in Sheffield that always had nice furniture - it quite often got filing cabinets in although they were usually really mankey. It might be an idea to check out some in studenty type areas.
hope everyone has a good weekend, and if any of you have any tips for dealing with credit card companies then chuck em this way, as complaining isn't normally in my nature - but i'm getting cheesed off with being taken for a ride.
ta ta for now,

After the great start to the day, it's getting better. I finally got round to shortening a skirt I tore in the back door. Great rip that won't stay mended. Luckily it's very long so I just chopped off 3" and finally got the machine out to hem it. Spurred on by this, I found a box of dates from Xmas and decided to make a batch of DH's favourite chutney. Then reviewing the amount of orange peel that will be left over, I decided to splash out on a can of Mamade and add the orange peel to it for cheat's marmelade. So for £4.24 I will have 6 jars of marmelade and 4-5 jars of chutney.
Probably need all weekend to recover from the activity today“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Afternoon
Finished at the hospital earlier than expected (so-so!) so OH took me to see Final Destination 3 (have a carers card-so we only pay £4 for us both)....I dont like roller coasters anyway...and definitly dont now:eek:....and wont be ever going on a sunbed again:eek: anyway it was OK....not really my cup of tea but OK I suppose. Cinemas are suppose to be wheelchair friendly but I would disagree and we had to go outside to get around IYKWIMand its bloomin freezing.
Cleaner has been and done a great job-smelt all lovely and fresh when we came in:D havent found the energy to walk upstairs yet...so could be a complete tip for all I know..LOL.
2 washloads done too and dried outside.
Anyway, we have king prawn thai green curry with thai rice for dinner. Never cooked it before and is my experiment of the month.
Got to go and have bath to warm up, take care everyone.
