Great start to the day. Discovered that the bag of Lidl choc brioche I got for the kids only had 7 in instead of 8. So inspired by Nicki's experience with the sandwich bags on Weds I took the remaining brioche to Lidl after the school run - bear in mind the kids had already eaten 6 of them. I asked to see the manager and I am so bad at complaining - I apologise all the time - but she gave me another bag of 8 free with no hassle at all! I am really proud of myself. DH is excellent complainer & bargainer so I never get much practice.
Ds1 back at school today. HM pizza for tea - everyone can then put their own toppings on - fun for a Friday night. I also got some bargain mince from the butcher so I shall be making burgers this morning for the freezer.
I put some washing on the line but more in hope than expectation as it is freezing here. Still it might save some time in the TD. Have sourced a smart shopping trolley on ebay so am waiting to hear if they deliver to Belfast - quite often we get classed as "Highlands and Islands" which is an easy way of saying -"oh that'll cost you £30 extra for delivery"“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Morning :hello:
Sorry to hear that so many people are not well
Cheer up Lillibet, soon you'll be complaining that he never wants to get out of bed and is eating you out of house and homebut HUGS for now.
Zed42, sounds like your daughter is learning to be a savvy shopper earlyMy mum remembers me age 8 or so filling in an Access card application for my Barbie :rotfl:
Jo - you tell him. He needs a good kick up the @rse if you ask me!!
Not sure what my plans are for the weekend - if I can get a day off in lieu then I'll most likely be in the office tomorrow in preparation for Tuesday's major deadline. I don't get paid overtime, and I've been quite firm with my boss that I'm not prepared to work for nothing alongside people who are paid by the day or hour. Really hope I don't have to work tomorrow at all though - if I do, I won't have a chance to get any cooking done, and as I'm likely to be working lateish most evenings next week, I'd end up living on takeaway breakfasts, lunches and dinners, which would be three weeks' grocery money down the pan in one single week  There's always Sunday afternoon for cooking, but now my BF's living in town, Sunday looks like becoming our regular "day", so I don't want to neglect him if at all possible - not when it looks like I'll be working late on Valentine's Day!
So, plans for if I'm NOT working will be:
- WM on
- Down to Asda for veggies
- Down to SpecSavers with my new prescription to choose new glasses (right eye has changed by 0.5 and my frames are wrecked anyway - I haven't had a new pair for 4 years so they're more than covered in the budget!)
- Back home to prepare sausage & bean casserole for SC (note to self - take sausages out of freezer tonight!)
- WM on with second load, first load in TD or on line if weather permits
- Tidying up, personal admin, ironing
- Evening will be spent listening to the weekly opera broadcast on Radio 3 (which will be a good'un), with my nice Sausage & Bean Casserole and the remainder of a bottle of red wine that I opened on Wednesday - hope it's still ok.
Plans for if I'm working - who knows.
More later xxOperation Get in Shape

My washing's outside too,it's beautiful and sunny here but frosty.I have a feeling it is just going to freeze on the line.
Not had any breakfast yet as dd was being v.difficult about getting ready for school, I had to listen to her read a very boring book, ds1 wanted me to test him on his spellings and I wanted to catch up on here.Dd makes life difficult for everyone in the mornings as she won't go upstairs on her own.I delegate one of the boys to go with her which they hate.At least we can have a break from it all next week.0 -
Not much going on in this house right now, just plodding along in the same old way. Its bright and sunny through the window but OH says its freezing, I have to brave it though and put a load of washing out to dry.
Bacon and muchroom pasta tonight and homemade pizza tomorrow.... made a big fruit jelly yesterday with some of the raspberries from the freezer will do tonight and tomorrow, so apple and gooseberry crumble for Sunday which will do 3 nights.......
Phoned Powergen last night to ask when I will get my final bill from them, we switched in December, they were 'holding the bill' why?????? no explanation, so asked for it to be released so I can see if I have any cash left in the kitty to come back, at one stage they were holding £114.........
Thats it, I am off to brave the freeze outside and hang out the washing.........

Found out yesterday that husband is being put on short hours from next week until the end of the month. So he is going to loose about a weeks worth of wages from his pay packet at the end of the month
So looks like things are going to be tight next month. But he has an interview for another job next week. Further away then the one now but a little more money and better career progression so could me better money in a few years time. But of course there will be fuel to pay for which he does not at the moment because it is just around the corner.

Morning all.
I'm still off work with my bad back, worst pain today. I went to the doctors yesterday for some anti-inflammatories so hoping these will help.
Not managed to do much today, apart from wash up.
Hope you all have a good weekend.0 -
Rather cheesed off at the mo. DH was supposed to get a wage increase at the begining of Jan. It was not in that wage, he let it slide until he got the next one this week and saw it still had not risen so has decided to take action. Boss says it will only now be back dated to the begining of Feb!!!!! We have lost out on over £100!!!! Hubby got funny about me being mad with him as I have kept asking him to chase it from before!!!
Jo - As you can see, you are not the only one with a partner that needs a kick up the rear!!!!
Mum has just phoned, they are taking my aunt to Blackpool for the weekend. She has left some things in the fridge for me and told me to take some chicken and salmon out of the freezer!!! V. money saving lolThe best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
Morning all!
Beautiful day here in SE London/NW Kent. Such a shame our garden faces North - never gets much sun on it in the winter, so nice to see a bit of sun shining on the fence at the end of the garden!
P-P hope you have a better night tonight!
Funky Fairy poor you, sounds as if you should see your doctor as the test you did was negative, but I don't suppose there's time if you're off on hols tomorow - do hope you feel better and enjoy your break.
Lillibet Ah, those teething times - I remember them well (even though my youngest is nearly 21!) You will come through it hon, Spud will go back to sleeping through. I used to find my littl'uns had horrible stinky nappies when teething, despite the "experts" saying that teething produces nothing but teeth!
It seems I found this site, and started to get into OS, at just the right time - DH heard yesterday that he will probably have to give up work earlier than he'd hoped, as his employers (DfT) say he's having to take too much time off sick.He knew he was unlikely to manage to keep working until retirement age, and they knew he was disabled when they took him on (he had to have a medical before they employed him). He used to be a telecoms engineer but had to be medically retired from that! So at present we've no idea what our income will be in about 6 months' time, except that it will probably be too high to claim any benefits. I do feel sorry for him as he's only 52, but he's been really struggling to go to work lately, and I'm sure we'll manage fine with all the useful tips on here!
DS was working last last night, and when he came in I gave him spag bol - a single leftover portion which I'd frozen. He was very impressed to find how quickly you can produce a meal by doing that! I 'm teaching him to cook so that he won't be living on burgers and kebabs when he eventually leaves home!
((((((Hugs)))))) to all who need them! Hope you all have a good day, and a good weekend to come.
I'm sure I've forgotten something I was going to say, so if I remember it later I'll pop back on!
best wishes

Morning everyone,
Hope all the poorly people are feeling better, hugs to everyone who needs one!!!! :grouphug:
Well, my boiler has definatly had it, an electrician friend came round last night to test the electrics going into it, and its all fine, so im in the process of trying to find a gas man to come out, although we might just tough it out over the weekend, i dont want to be paying high weekend rates!!! We are lucky to have a gas fire in the front room, so we can keep warm in that room at least!!!
DS and DD at school, although DD wasnt feeling too well this morning, she has a nasty cough, which doesnt help her asthma, shes on her last inhaler, so must pop down to the doctors later to pick up a repeat prescription.
Only have one little one here today, so thats quite nice, we've been playing trains, as we can get all the track out, and not have rows when one of the others breaks it up!!! Did pop to Focus, and picked up some MDF and when he has a sleep later, im going to glue the track to the wood, so that we dont have the broken up prob anymore!!!
The WM has finished and is all hung up, DW ready to go after the lunch plates, and pizza dough being made in the BM!!! Just need to finish wiping the bathroom down and then im done!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely Friday, take care xxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Hiya everyone
Cold and sunny in TM land todayMakes you feel glad when it'slike that (even if you can't see a blinking thing when driving cos the sun's in your eyes
Thanks heavens for the 4 pairs of el cheapo sunglasses I keep in the car for such days
)
Been to speech therapy with DS2. He's doing really well and his conversational skills are coming on well too (as opposed to just his word formation) Then had to go to Adsa to buy all the soft drinks and chocs for Mr TM's cadet's tuck-shop. I have to admit to making a major error at the checkout.I had £50 to spend and had priced everything up. When she told me the amount - it was over. Instead of just paying and then going to CS - I said "oh, aren't the cokes £x"? She sent someone to investigate - they had overcharged me - but I then ended up paying proper price instead of complaining at CS and getting a better deal! Do Asda do like Tesco - give you your money back AND the goods? I'd have had 72 cans of coke and £21.54 if so!! Ah well - not my money, but still. Teach me to open mouth without thinking. I'd never have done that if it was 'my' money ;o
Anyway - DS2's off to pre-school soon, so I shall make a quick lunch of butties and juice then I have a couple of hours to myself. Want to putting WM and DW on and make a cottage pie for tea. Will make one for freezer and may make fish pie too as I still have a piece of trout in the fridge that I cooked yesterday and some prawns that I could use up.
Tonight I shall be watching the last episode of "Deed" and I may sort some of the drawers in my bedroom - I have junk/needs filing drawers all over, soMr TM can't complain about the mess. They haven't been sorted for a while
Ok - hugs to all in need, have to go and sort DS2. Hope you get your OH sorted Jo!
See ya later
