Um OK then I have Telewest BB @2mb uncapped @ 17.99 per month
and that is the only service I use with them........

Does anybody think I may get a lower rate if I try it with them but
no loss of download speed as needing software daily I cant afford
    to lose the dowload speed..

Any Ideas will be Brill... :T :T

    Per my previous post:

Telewest are currently offering £14.99 per month for 12 months, free install, free equipment, £10 back if you sign up online, 2000 Rpoints for a 512K (upgrading to 2MB in my area by end Feb) with no limits.
Seems a good deal to me - I live too far away from an exchange and can only get 512K, so all these 8MB deals mean nothing to me.

If anyone is thinking of using Geo Internet for their "£9.99 per month" offer, make sure you read the T & C's beforehand. It says it is a 1 month contract, but oh! boy, if you leave before 1 year is up, watch out! They will hit you with a punitive charge of £99.99 or make you pay the rest of the year's monthly payments.

Hi I am new to broadband, can you tell me what is a mac code. Thanks.
If you decide to change your BB provider, if you get a MAC code it is easy to switch to another supplier, this enables your BB connection to be moved easily and usually without a connection charge. If you don't get a MAC Code you would probably have to wait up to a couple of weeks to get re-connected and pay another connection charge.

I've been with Pipex for a good while now (2 years?) and paying £23.44 for a 1Mb/s download and 512Kb/s upload, rang them up to ask for the MAC number as I am going to change to Plusnet @ £14.99, they offered me the same price with a 15GB/month cap and I have to do 12 months from this time.

I Accepted this as it means I don't have the hassle of email address change etc, I never use more than 15GB and whilst I'm locked in it still saves me £8.50/month.Maybe worthwhile others trying this if your with Pipex.

I did the same thing the other week and they offered me a 2MB service for only £17.99 with a 30 gig monthly limit! :j

Actually at first they only offered me an off-peak 2MB service with unlimited d/l for £23.99 p/m but I stuck to my guns and said I wasn't happy and asked for my MAC code, at which point they offered me the better deal. I think the moral of this tale is: if you've been with your ISP for more than a year then phone them up and ask if theres any way you can cut the cost, and make it clear that you're prepared to quit, you never know they might be prepared to cut you a better deal.

Yeah newcustomers, but you have a bargaining tool. Threaten them with leaving and rejoining - or worse, not returning....

    Nooooooooooooooo..........
  • I signed up with Tiscali . Had no end of problems with connection and eventually pulled out. They did not offer any support for Mac users and when I initially reported problems as soon as I said I used a Mac they told me to get help from Mac itself. It turned out to be a problem with Tiscali.

Which ISP is best for Mac users? I have a BT line. Might it be better just to sign up with them?
    HELP!!

    Hi Chuffy
Please can you tell me if I should have good broadband. I am with A O L and I am about 3/4 of a mile from the exchange, I am a newby so keep it simple. Thanks Joe.
