I am looking for a cheaper ISP, currentlyusing V21 paying £16.99 a month. I want free connection & modem, and don't want to download. Anybody got any suggestions?
Also is Madasafish's offer for first year only? What's the cost in subsequent years?
I was in the same position a few months ago. The solution is right under your nose! Change to V21's 2M/2G service for £11-98 pm or £9-98 if you sign up for the FreeTalk comms package. Then you don't have to change email addresses etc.

If you speak to them nicely, or threaten to leave(!), they will migrate you FOC. The last thing they want to do is lose an existing customer.

I am very pleased with the change (inc FreeTalk, although I also use 1899 etc).

Following Martin's piece on Madasafish, I signed up 1st Feb, quickly told that the account had been authorised and the line activated, but am still awaiting delivery of modem & filters after 12 days, anyone else had this problem?

I am with AOL and have 3 computers connected via a router. I pay £29.99 a month for this. Which gives myself and my 2 kids 19 & 21 unlimited access to the net. We are connected about 12 hours a day each and download data and films and music.

Does anyone know of another provider that or where to go to find out who I could switch too for a better deal?

Craggan - no such problems mate. Modem and filter arrived two days later, and the connection was confirmed within the week. 2.2Mbps broadband - superb! And you should see the neck of the woods I'm in!

Now I've just got to get some running water.....
  • my contract time was up with wanadoo so i asked for a discount or i would be changing suppliers - they gave me a discount there and then -

Are you now tied into a further 12 month contract?
  • No - they agreed to give me the same deal as a new customer for 6 months and then contact them again - so in 6 months i will be asking what deal they can give me to keep me as a customer - if no deal i walk.
  • PlusNet dont treat you very well, IMHO, if you are an existing customer. I have been with them about 14 months and pay £29.99. They now offer the same service to new customers at £21.99. To cancel my existing contract I need to give 30 days notice and pay a fee. Getting information out off them is like pulling hen's teeth...it took about 6 emails to get this information and even then did not specify how much the fee would be. Ringing their customer service help line takes for ever and costs a forture (cheaper now thx to Martin's new access nos for premium rate nos) I dont consider that good customer service. I would like to change to one of the cheaper providers recommended here but dont want to be left without access. Can anyone suggest how best to go about this pls.
