  • Seems like Sky are losing it a bit from some of these stories. Presumably their post-Christmas strategy was to play hardball with anyone willing to try the old 'threaten-to-cancel' trick in search of a better deal. If posts on this site are an indicator, sounds like many of us are following through on the threat - maybe they'll be forced to reconsider.

I've discovered that the recording function of Sky+ is available for £10 a month, even if you don't have ANY of the other packages. All you need to do is pay £10 as a one-off to convert your box to FreeSat. I know it doesn't have E4 - but for £10 a month this means you can convert to almost freeview with a top-quality recorder. Think this is what I'm going to do.

Wondering if Sky have made the decision not to offer discounts at this time of year as they typically start to show their best programs 24 etc in January and will expect people to stay with them when these are on. In Feb they might start again.

    Hello,

Just a warning about the uswitch digital tv comparison - according to them I can get freeview, but I can't, and have double checked it with the freeview site.

Don't rush out and buy a box if you're not certain, check first!

(actually I use an old sky box and pick up the "free" channels, but one day it'll give up the ghost, and probably before our digital switchover of 2009!)

[blah blah blah} the thing is, if I'm so b***dy brilliant, why am I still broke?

I rang sky last week hoping to get the £49 sky+ deal as recommendation, only to be told that the offer is now finished & Id need to pay the full £159. However the sales person did mention the promo starting again sometime February. The promo will be £49 for sky+ box if you recommend someone, however the new suscriber will get not get any discounts.

No offers for me either, gutted really as I've never been offered anything EVER! All I could do to save money was reduce my package.

Edit: And would just like to add, that was after 25 minutes of jovial banter with a very nice woman!!

No offers for me after a year of offers. So I canceled down and will see how we go. Again 25mins of banter and trying to get me on sky talk and broadband . Told them NTL had got a good name a street level with many saying how good it was. That went down a bomb talk about slagging a company off I thought the guy was going to blow a gasket. In the end we got around to turning it off. I did'nt have the heart to tell him it was on the freephone number as I bet he thought he was getting loads of dosh by keepig me on LoL.

I think my sky offer runs out this month but I cant remember. I hope they renew mine as I will have to cancel too. I have ntl upstairs though on half price family pack. I'll just see how it goes I just wont pay that price for the family pack its too much. Any ideas how to get them to renew it?
    Thanx

  • At the moment there are no offers the only way to get them back is to cancel in numbers and take it ll the way. You can always connect back when ever you want.

Oh well ill be watching tv upstairs then on the ntl one when I cant watch it on the one downstairs but I dont really watch much of the other channels anyway. I dont want the skyplus coz I'd be contracted for a year and I only pay £10.50 at the moment for the family pack.

If you leave then go back to them later do you start another 12 month contract? And are customer services open tomorrow?
    Thanx

  • When you re-conect I think you can cancel again when ever you want. the 12mth rule applies when you have got the box for free. As soon as you have done your 12 mths I think you can choose as and when. if someone else can help is this the case?
