Like many others, I was waiting for January to either try to get a deal on Sky, or downgrade to a cheaper package - I'm paying £43.50 a month, and frankly, that's a lot of money. Thing is, I've become addicted to Sky Plus, and so if I don't pay for either movies or sports, I'm landed with a £10 a month charge for the Sky Plus box. It seems impossible to get the monthly charge lower than £34 - but that's actually for a pitiful number of channels. They've structured the pricing very cleverly...
So a couple of questions -
1) If I cancel Sky+ (i.e. don't pay the £10 a month) - do they come over and swap the box, even though I paid a premium for it?
2) Is there any sort of deal being offered at the moment which will give me Sky One, Sky Sports and Sky Plus (the only 3 things I really want) for a reasonable amount of money? Is there another provider which can give me something similar for around the £25 a month mark?
Any advice would be greatfully recieved.0 -

No it records just like a Video recorder would.
I think you're thinking of a PVR where you can record 'normal' tv onto a hard drive with similar functionality as a Sky+ box, these work quite well but the general concensus is that SKy+ is the best.... but at what cost ?0 -
Ay - there's the rub - Sky+ is so great. I had a good quality PVR previously but it didn't even compare to Sky+. That's the clever, yet totally unfair part of Sky's pricing - £10 a month for something which you've paid up to £199 for in the first place!0

I had been getting two packages with Sky for £7.50 a month, but this went up to £15 this month, so I`ve cancelled. Last time I cancelled, I got a call a few days later saying that I could keep the half-price deal for 6 months, but no call yet.0

I have just had a call from NTL (they supply us with telephone + B band) offerring free for life digita tv ( about 40 chanels, I expect it is all freeview + movies on demand chanel), all for a £25 installation charge. She is going to call back tomorrow to see if I want it. She caught me on the hop, to be honest as we have just had Sky + installed for £49 (existing customer). I will have to talk to O/H to seewhat she wants.....0

I am under the impression that if you are out of the 12month contact you keep the box, but I don't know if Sky+ can be switched off at the other end.....0 -

I think this has been going on for a while now, free tv to anyone who has a phone with them. I have sky downstairs and ntl upstairs. But when they phone back remember to ask for the other option for installation which is to have the family pack at half price for the first month rather than £25 for installation.
I already had the tv in so it was just a matter of getting the charge taken off for me but my stepmum only had the phone on its own. I rang for her and asked for the free tv, she didnt get charged for installation she had half price family pack for the first month. When it got to the end of the month I rang up and asked if she could have it taken off and just have the free tv now, they said yes but if she wanted to keep it on family pack she could have it at half price for a following 6 months so she kept that. After the 6 months are up we will ring again and get it extended or she will go on freeThanx

I phoned sky this week to ask about getting sky+ and knew it was £99 if you took out multi room but after reading posts on here thought I would try and get it for £49. So I said the the man I was thinking of upgrading to sky+ how much would it cost me, he said I think £99 to wich I replyed that some of my friends got it for the cheaper price, he put me on hold for over ten minutes then when he did come back said it would be £159 I was so shocked about it I just said I would think about it and hung up. Can anyone tell me the best way to get it for £49? I dont want to threaten canceling as its the only thing that keeps my kids quiet0
