i want the 'base' broadband package that has no monthly fee but don't want to pay the £40 connection fee.

has anyone managed to haggle and get this package without paying the connection fee?
  • I've just had success in getting a free call out for an engineer to sort out the glitching that I've been getting - (think its a bad signal where the recent wind has moved the dish). Hopefully all will be better soon and I can go back to moaning about how much it costs :-)

Thanks for the 0800 number as well.

Had an engineer booked for next monday to replace the non-working sky+ box, when it suddenly sprang into life last night for no reason:confused:

Someone at Sky must have made a boo-boo and forgot to connect it at their end, even though i got it a week ago and have phoned up god knows how many times.

So another word of advise to those taking out sky+, if it doesnt work and you have followed all the instructions, make sure they have it connected at their end too.

  • Spoke to a nice chap in Turnaround and got offered the following:

Sky Connect (I'm not on a Sky enabled exchange) for £5 for 12 months.
    Sky+ for £49 installed.

As I currently pay £20 for broadband, I could switch to Sky, get an Internet package of similar specification, Sky with 2 mixes and not pay a penny extra!

    Thanks MSE!

    :D

    Update:
    GRMBL!

When I rang today to take them up on the offer I was told that the person I spoke to yesterday made a mistake. All they could do was give me Sky+ for £49. So byebye Sky!

  • Rang Sky this morning after being on 50% reduction for last three months, used freephone number and had three sky agents as got cut off twice trying to knock my package down (have sports, movies and four mixes) and pulled the stunt of trying to knock down to two mixes for £25 as sky+ is £10 without premium channels. Said no can do on price reductions so have just given them thirty days notice of cancellation. They said all incentive have now been stopped so either I got three numptys or they are not doing em as they have had a good Christmas selling the £150 box for six months of viewing deal etc.

Don't think I will get a call either but £500 saved if I can stop myself from ringing back up. LOL

They also try and get you signed up for skytalk to save you money that way etc but no good when tied into talk talk contract.

Just a point with talk talk does anyone have problems with the phone cutting out as happend three times this morning. Thought it could be the phone but my old man has the same problem.
  • If everyone held back and don't renew, very soon the profits they saw over Christmas will dwindle, and for sure they'll come back with the deals, Cmon brave it out, We can do without Sky for a while. Alan.

  • Just been on to SKY, my 6 Months Offer for Sky Sports finished today @ £18.50/Month, tried my best to haggle, but fairplay to the nice scottish girl I got she would offer me this package for £34.00/Month, told her I was looking it for around the same price as before, but she insisted that all the Special Offers had been taken of, so told her to proceed with the cancellation, will be switched off on the 17.02.06.

If anybody hears of any offers in between time, would you please leave details, as I have 2 Kids whom are both Man Utd Mad, sorry make that 4 Kids
