    I got the letter too
i'm bloomin annoyed as i really need a paper bill , i understand why three are doing it , but no consideration has been given to people who actually NEED a paper bill , other than paying £1 pm for it .
ok rounding up to the nearest minute is really annoying also

I thought they were starting to charge for itemised billing, not paper (i.e. you can still have paper, it will just cost you £1 if you also want it itemised ... or you could print it yourself if you need a print out?). When o2 and Orange did this, I seem to recall that you could still get the itemised bill online for free (it may have changed), but now with o2 CPW you get charged even if you have online only billing if you want it itemised.

PS - Not had a letter yet for my Three account but if this itemised bill charge is grounds to cancel, will be looking out for the letter as an opportunity to change contract early.

you will still have access to your itemised billing through the "my3" service, but if like me you need an itemised bill hard copy then you have to pay £1 pm for it.
sure i could print it out , but as far as i'm concerned that's not the point , that only complicates matters for me , as some months i'm only at home for 2 or 3 days per month , and i don't want to spend those sitting in front of my pc printing .

I phoned tonight to see if i could negotiate a discount from my monthly bill to cover the extra they are going to charge , to which they refused saying that they will continue to send me a monthly summary instead of the fully itemised bill i currently receive.

they also told me i could cancel , but i would have to pay a termination fee ! (which i think are just scare tactics)

so if i can cancel, i think i'm going to have to ......purely on principal and bad customer service. I've been a three customer for 5 years and until now been entirely happy with what they have had to offer, but this stinks.
anyone know of any good deals at the moment ? around 750 -1000 mins ?

    Morning All,

Yesterday, I successfully managed to obtain my PAC and cancel my contract, which will terminate on 12 Sept unless I port my number across onto another network earlier.

Seems like alot of people are asking about this, and I feel I was lucky to cancel so easily - although I was on the phone for almost 1hr (being on hold most of the time).

I chose the options for the Billing team, who weren't helpful but they then transferred the call to the Disconnections team. They wanted to know what letter I had received first (maybe as a technique to find out if I had received the letter), so I read out the 3 paragraphs (1 - Direct Debit amount change from £3 to £4, 2 - Itemising Billing to cost £1, and 3 - Per minute billing).

I didn't believe I had grounds to argue against Paragraph 1 as I already pay via DD. I argued on grounds of Paragraph 2 but the lady insisted that I view/print them online, but I told her that I don't have access to the Internet at home - only at work, and Three Website is barred. I was put on hold and then told to visit friends/family houses to view/print it, which I then told her is a bit cheeky of her suggesting that.

She wanted to know exactly WHY I needed the bill itemised, and I said it's for my personal reference and I would rather not comment (I was being cheeky for her being cheeky).

Anyway, she asked for the Billing Account Number at the top of the letter (also found on your bill), and then cancelled the contract. I asked if it will be free, and she said yes. They asked if I had used the mobile phone, and I said that I have been using it for 3months since I bought the contract... so I get to keep the phone too.

The above should work, but if this fails, argue against paragraph 3, as the case will be stronger. Say that you go out quite alot and when in clubs/bars, you have to make quick phone calls to friends, plus if it goes to their voicemail, you are immediately charged for 1min, hence this change is detriment to you.

Best of luck folks, and any questions, do let me know.

If you put your notice to quit to them in writing you will save all the hassle of them trying to talk you out of it.

Put in the letter you want to cancel without cancellation charge under section 10.1 (d) of the conditions following receipt of their notification of the increase in charge for itemised billing. Ask them to confirm receipt of your notice, and to confirm the cancellation. Send it rcorded delivery.
