Three Itemised Billing Charges (merged threads)

Hello,

I was browsing around the forum earlier with regards to another topic i wanted solving and came across the threads about Three making changes to their T&C's (billing per minute rather than per second) and i noticed that Three will now be charging for £1 itemised billing as from 31 July 2008.
I'm currently in the middle of an 18 month contract with Three on Mix and Match 700 and i wanted to know if this (the charge in itemised billing) could be considered a detrimental variation to the T&C's that i signed my contract under back in December, and whether i can cancel my contract on these grounds.
If i'm honest, the customer service with Three is simply awful and if i have to speak to another advisor that speaks poor English, i may scream!
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

I'm not sure the answer to your question, but I'm with 3, and they could have informed me they were changing the Ts&Cs!

Well i only found out from another thread on here.
I went into my local 3 shop today to get the lowdown on the charges and i was told that the charges applied to existing customers as well as new.
I've sent them an email asking to cancel my contract on the grounds that they've violated their terms and conditions by A) not advising me of the changes, and B) by making changes to my contract that are of detriment to me (i need the itemised billing for my records) because i don't see why i should pay an extra £20 on top of my bill total for the duration of my contract.

I'm hoping i get a result out of this.
  • I have found the same thing! Already sent my letter off to three. Interesting I rang customer services twice. 1st time they claimed they did not know where the charge information was on the price guide (its page 32 by the way) - so I rang back with the details. They then claimed it would 100% not apply to me (mix and match 700), yet every piece of literature I have read suggests otherwise.

The agent also said 'its only a pound a month' - cheeky b*gger

I still sent the letter knowing full well they will try and play the 'you had a months notice and didnt inform us' card. This whole thing stinks. I am expecting 'bugg*er off' response, in which case I will escalate to OFCOM.

unsuprisingly, i got exactly the same response. i sent them an image file with the relevant section circled in bright red marking so i don't think they can miss it! they've just phoned me again with regards to the latest mail so i'm going to ring them back. i'll keep you all posted.

update - just spoke to a nice man and he personally looked up the price guide and agreed that itemised billing will be charge and i would be charged as the company would implement it across the board regardless of customer status and said he'd make everyone else aware because this was the first he'd heard of it. he also said i should recieve a text message telling me of the change. either way i can get out of it by either saying they didn't inform me or by saying the change to my contract is detrimental (at £18 a year it is). hurrah for a breakthrough!
  • Great result! Well done, its about time these big companies started to play ball!

if you go to three.co.uk and then to the important documents section, and then three price guide. it's on page 32/33 of the guide or page 34 on the PDF file. hope this helps.
