Its not Sales you want but Retentions you do need to say you ARE leaving for a better offer and get put through to Retentions.0 -

Are they really giving those phone out? I thought it was only a simcard and you had to have or buy the phone?
Please read this thread in the Mobile Board regarding the mobile offer.

To get the best possible deal out of NTL, ring customer retentions on 0800 052 9403.
:T:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Select option 3
You don't need to be dramatic and say you're leaving, by the way - just say to them you've been shopping around and have found 'x deal' is better than NTL, what can they offer ?
It is far better to be prepared and be aware of the competition's offers. Note the staff in retentions will know what the current deals are and will raise objections - eg that broadband only has 2GB download per month, ours is unlimited; they say 10mbps you won't get it unless you live next door to the exchange, etc etc
If haggling on TV get acquainted with the Sky deals - presently half price on all TV packages for the first three months, though this offer may change on 31st October.
They will respect those who have researched deals, and will usually equal or even better them - well worth haggling0 -
Well, I got up the courage and wrote a very assertive but eloquent email to Telewest, and managed to get an outcome we are thrilled with.
We were gettin 2 meg Broadband, Essential TV Package, and Free Weekends only, for £35.00.
After lots and LOTS of bargaining back and forth, we are now getting:
- SUPREME TV
- Free talk weekends AND EVENINGS
- GO INTERNATIONAL (I'm Aussie)
- same broadband
for the same price! (It works out to be worth about £47.50 pm, but he's applied a £12.50 rolling credit to the account, PLUS he has given us a free month!)
We are really happy... and the service this time was lovely.
(FYI one of the main basis-es of my complaint was the fact that when we signed up we were only told about the £35 family deal, they WITHHELD the 3 for £30 option from us over the phone and I found it on the net the following week! Grrr! AND they didn't connect within 7 days as promised, AND when I rang up to complain the tech. department said to me, and I QUOTE, :
The Sales team will say ANYTHING to get a sale). We've had 2 TV issues and one broadband issue in 2 months, so we really did have genuine reason to complain).
But still, very pleased, thanks all for inspiration!0 -
Just phoned up and asked if there was any way of getting cheaper broadband (currently £1Mb £17.99 month), no probs, now half price for the next 6 months :beer:0

Thanks very much to the original poster. I wish I'd seen this months ago!
Just phoned ntl H.O and said I've seen that I can get bb cheaper elsewhere etc.I was offered 3 mths half price by H.O customer services and then had to be put through to my local department for them to activate it and they were really rude, said there is no such deal and I've been given the wrong information.
So I phoned back the main cust. service and told them what had happened, they apologised and found a way to activate the deal themselves, except they extended it to 6 mths at £9.99 for 2mb (instead of £17.99)!
So try again if you're told no! The H.O number I called was 01256 751046.
By the way, I was told that they're phasing out 1mb and everyone will be on 2mb by the end of October.0 -
