  • Phoned NTL about an hour ago. Went from 2mb for £17.99 to 10mb for £17.50! :j I have to phone every 3 months to renew this but hey, no big deal.

    Am downloading much quicker already!

    What a fantastic site! :T

Good bargain. How long have you been with NTL?
  • Was on 3 for £30, quick call to a very helpful lady, just to ask how I go about cancelling and got offered:-

    Free calls evenings and weekends
    Tv upgraded to Family pack
    10 mb broadband

    all for 27.49 per month

Told only for 3 months but to call back in 3 months and ask to continue the offer (even gave me the date to call back on)

Few problems with the first bill, but sort fairly easily :)
  • Been a while since I last posted, but I feel I have to update people on my experiences with NTL since negotiating a great deal back in May.

After reading Martin's tips on "stick but save" tactics I phoned NTL to get my bills reduced in May. Made sure I wrote down the offer I wanted and phoned their CR department 0800 052 9403 (still works, so avoid 0845 no.s).
With very little effort they offered me 10Mb BB and TU24 for £19.49 a month, no time limit and the price was all in. (I specifically verified these points and made notes).
Since then NTL have managed to bill me £40+ every month, meaning I have had to phone them every month and get the figure manually readjusted to the correct amount. Some months I have had to argue with staff who basically said there was no way NTL could offer such as deal, but I have managed to stand my ground and convince them it was true. I now have 3 pages worth of notes and told them this month that I had had enough and would be looking to switch to a BT line operator.

Quite frankly I would rather pay out to get the BT connection re-instated and then go with someone like Talk Talk as long as I don't have to fight to get my bills corrected every month! (Plus the so-called 10Mb has never been higher than 4Mb!)

So be warned people, always take notes and ask CS operators for their name and extension no. Not that you ever seem to get them again but at least you have some evidence who you spoke to!
Any advice I give is based purely on personal experience. I am NOT a professional or expert in any field except insect genetics!! So be warned!

Phoned Telewest today and got 2MB broadband for £9.99 instead of £17.99. Asked about a speed increase but was told that would cost more than we are paying now, after the 3 months are up but looks like people have managed to get upgrades at no extra cost, will try that after 6 months.

  • I have had the same problem with NTL. Had monthly amount reduced in march to £25 for 4mb BB, TU24, line rental etc but had to phone every month as the idiots who work there cant bill me properly. Ceaper yes, but a pain in the a*se!!!
Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p

Same here, its ok getting the offers but really the biggest drag having to call back every month to argue it out with customer services who have told me many a time no record of the offers went on my account and some argue that I shouldnt be refunded because I had the offers months ago so should be happy but I cant have them again.

Plus if your account is in credit they dont send a bill which is wrong
    Thanx
