called to cancel(!) NTL deal.
They offered 2MB B/B, telephone, free eve/ we calls, base pack TV: £15.01
Have to call back in 6 m to renew BB deal (£9.99) but they said it would be fine.
Thanks for the advice folks0 -

ok, so i reluctantly setup direct debit with ntl so they don't rip me off with the new £4 charge for not paying via DD. Reluctant why? Because they just can't get my bill right.
Anyhow, last month when paying my bill I asked the guy if there were any discounts and such to lower my bill, he said he would let me have broadband at half price (normally £17.99) for 6 months. Great.
So, week later I send the form back for the DD.
Got 2 letters today, first one confirming DD set up ok. 2nd one is the bill.
Was it half price? Nope, course not.
And it hadn't even come out of DD!
Unfortunately their call centre shuts at 5 so just missed speaking to them.
Is anyone else having such problems with them? Last time I got a cheaper deal, they just constantly got it wrong for the entire term of the deal!

Virtually identical problem with me too, and I had to ring up every month for last six months to get billing credits. Apparantly there is a person whose job it is within the dept to reinput the contract for these price deals or otherwise they revert back to the original price. Until I spoke to someone called James this last time nobody else seemed to know this was necessary so hopefully it will be correct for the future. He is on 0800 052 9403. A new billing system will likely be in place in three months time apparantly, and I have been asked to ring in then to reconfirm my package details are correctly shown on the new system and discuss the package again.
ntl agreed to an extension of my £9.99 2 meg broadband for a further 6 months, taking it to 2 years in total at that price. Also the 24/7 talk unlimited option, currently priced at £14, has been extended for a further 3 months free of charge, taking it to a total of 9 months free. Line rental is the normal price of £11. I don't really see it as a discount, just a correction to a more competitive price versus talk talk and sky.
I like cable BB so if these prices are maintained I would likely stay with them even if not the cheapest, but having sky tv should help my bargaining position.0 -
Have just called NTL about my broadband. They have confirmed the following deal for me :-
3 Months free
next 3 Months at £9.99
Not bad...will call them again in 6 months time...0 -
Called yesterday and got my 4 meg for half price ongoing in future and then phoned up for my Dad and got the same deal for him!
Result, am well happy.0 -
My current 'retention' deal with NTL is 4mb broadband, telephone line rental and 24/7 unlimited free calls for £22.99 per month.0
