Also been with Telewest for 5 years and have:
4MB Broadband
Essential TV
Phhone Rental
Talk Evenings and Weekends
Sky Sports 1, 2,3 and Extra
This was costing me £75 a month. Called last night and enquired about cancelling. I was immediately offered the above (minus sports) for £45 a monthThey also then offered me the Sports package for half price for 6 months - so £11 instead of £22!! So saving £19 a month.
Apparently when NTL/Telewest become Virgin Media - the price of the premium channels is likely to be reduced (no prices known though!)
So - it pays to ring them and threaten to leave.0 -
MR_G wrote:Well I have been with T West for 5 years & I was paying £ 54 pm for
4 mg BB
Phone Rental
Supreme TV
I called in August & got the cold shoulder.
A few weeks back got really !!!!ed about paying for BB when T/T do it for free. So I posted a message on another Message board and was told that Telewest do my package for £45 !!!!
Well I phoned up & ask the person at sales how long was this been available for & was told it had been going since June / July.
Now although im glad my bill has been cut I am !!!!ed that I was not told about the decrease or that my bill was not automaticlly reduced back in August when I enquired.
I emailed customer services & all they did was send me a email confirming that my bill was reduced.
I am still not happy I thought the least they could do if offer a credit or something !!!
I read somewhere that the head of NTL/Telewest is Steve Burch. I emailed him but am yet to get a response.
Any thoughts on my next move folks
Well people it took a week but I had a call from the Cheif Exec's office yesterday & they said sorry for the confusion & will credit my bill with £20 for my troubles.
Im happy with that so thats my story.0 -
Couple of weeks ago complained to NTL about their poor service by email. Didn't hear anything so phoned up.
(see earlier post).
Anyway, they phoned me up yesterday about the email, said sorry etc and gave me £30 credit to carry into next month's bill....
Also changed home package to 2mb 9.99 from 4mb which saved us loads, just hope the kids don't notice - haven't so far!
Claiming against Nationwide £2500Others to come!0 -

You don't have to quote current offers. All you do is phone this number
NTL retentions dept 0800 052 9403 - option #3
The people on the phone are all quite used to offering cheaper packages to anyone who phones. I was honest and straight to the point
"I am unhappy with the cost of my ntl services, what can you do for me?"
They might say "I can give you BB 4mb for 12.50 month"
A lot of people will just take the 1st offer but I asked him the prices of the 10 mb BB and the 2mb BB, He told me the best he could do for each one and I settled for 2mb (which was 1mb at the time) for 9.99 month (saving an extra 2.50).
I then asked him what can you do for my line rental costs? He said he had nothing to offer me in that area. But I did some moaning about the cost of line rental and he eventually gave me a half price line rental for 3 months.
After 3 months my line rental went up again, and I didn't phone them back until last week when my BB offer for 6 months was due to expire.
This time they renewed the 9.99 BB and asked if I wanted the line rental renewed aswell. Of course I did.
I have now had my bill and the discounts are showing I have been given the same offer 9.99 for 6 months, 1/2 line rental for 3 months.
Interesting to see Dipak's post above. Same as me almost so the half price line rental (or 6 pounds in Dipak's case) is a real possibility if you push for it.
Dipak, How long is your BB offer for and your line rental offer, mine are 6 mths & 3 mths respectively. This time I think I will phone again after 3 mths and get the line rental renewed.0 -

Thought it was the other way around, Telewest have merged with NTL and taken over Virgin Mobile?0 -
Hi,
A friend of mine is interested in joining NTL BB (2MB) only and doesn't want to pay more than £10/mth for the first 12mths.
What are the chances they'll offer him this offer? All comments welcome.0 -

Half price is likely, but I think you have to get it installed first then say your not happy in the 30 day cooling off period.0 -

Don't accept an installation fee, and make sure your friend is 100% clear with the sales person that there will be no installation fee. Get the christian name of the person and thier extention number, or a reference # for the deal. Write all details about the deal down on a piece paper (inc e.g. free installation) (to be used as evidence if needed)
If you get charged installation complain to CS and they should remove it (they did for me).0
