I was offered : - £10 broadband + their free basic tv package + no phone line rental

When the phone-line was not disconnected, I was told that this offer was a mistake & their system had rejected a free tv package without a phone account. (The 2nd operator said 'what would be in it for us'. I had to agree, but said if I had to go & buy a £20 free-view box I could no longer buy Virgin's films)

    So which operator is right?

Has anyone ever extracted a £9.99 deal from Virgin Broadband + free digital tv but with no line rental?

Even without the free tv, If you're OK only using PAYG mobiles & broadband phone. £10 for broadband, with no line rental to pay, is surely an unbeatable deal?
Virgin/NTL website says Free TV pack (Size M) is:
"FREE when you take any phone service"

This is what I found in Jan when I started investigating NTL deals.
(If you search my posts you'll see it's start of long saga.)

My NTL deal -how does this sound ?? -see post #4

I really want Freeview (without using NTL), but don't think I can get in my area due to poor aerial reception.

Looking at NTL packages/options don't think you can have Free TV Pack when you have Broadband.
They only seem to give Free TV Pack to new customers when they only have Telephone line.

I phoned the other week to upgrade my mum and dad's analogue to digital and was told to phone back after 8th July and they might be able to do something for her.

I phoned retentions saying that I was going to Sky as I wanted a digital service, et voila a digital service was connected in my house for no charge!

I phoned retensions to get my bill reduced. They would only do it if I swapped to digital (free). Got a lot better package, free extra boxes,XL TV, sky sports for about £30 less a month than I was paying.

    Watch your bills carefully guys.

My bill was £5 more this month, so I called up,and apparently, the loyalty package they offered me in April for 12 months, well, the broadband was only for 3 months!!

I was put through to relations who explained, I said it wasn't good enough, and I wasn't given ANY end date, I was told it was indefinite, so he will be adjusting this bill as a goodwill gesture, and crediting my account each month, for a further 9 months.

    Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd mention this as I came across this problem recently.

For those you who are existing CableTel customers will remember that CableTel had an offer to attract customer which was trade in your existing SKY box and we'll give you cable and £5 discount forever (unless you leave). I have continued receiving my discount up until Jan 2007. I rang them up and complained and was told they dont offer that discount anymore. What i knew was they cannot simply terminate a discount without notifying you. So i complained and followed their complaints proceduce and in July 2007 i was awarded £100 compensation as i got CISAS involved and a letter of apology from Virgin Media.

If you guys want to know the details of how i approached this please email me and i'll give you the details.

    Regards,
    Dipak

been a longtime Telewest/Virgin Media customer had the telephone (free weekends) & basic free TV for £11 for a while.

decided at the weekend to try & see what they would offer for broadband.

Got a deal for £9 per mnth for a year & free installation charge.

Total Package now is £20 per mnth.
