So since taking over Telewest not only has my service become worse than what it was but now if I ring to talk to there support to complain about service they are going to charge me for the honour!
My goodness I really find it hard to believe they are doing that with all the complaints customers have with virgin right now. I havent recieved a letter myself yet but I'm shocked, those prices are really a lot considering that you cant resolve problems just in a couple of minutes plus waiting time and from experience they often cant help anyway.
I have called the billing quite a few times lately and everytime its been indian call center and they have not sorted out the problem. In one case they couldnt even find my account and another time they said I'd been disconnected even though I was online. The quality of the calls were absolutely horrendous!!! and this is supposed to be a telephone company. People are gonna just be leaving on droves if they carry on this way. I wonder how many people lost thier jobs when they changed to virgin media so they could employ cheaper labour abroadThanx

Hi everyone,
I was just asked to check my parents telewest bill and found they were paying an excessive amount -
Tel line rental
Talk unlimited
sports 2 package (Skymovie 1,2 Sports 1)
Broadband L
TV XL
1 additional Vbox
Total £104.95!!
I have just rang the chap to get a better deal and was offered 3 packages
1 - All the above 2BB rather than the 4 previous £66.95
2 - VIP deal - Talk +, 10BB, and original £85
3 - As original but no contract £78.45
Edit: I was also offered 2 x Vbox for £10 extra per month or £150 up front.
Surely they can do better cant they?
I was told not.
I think your (parents) problem is similar to the one i had; Being ripped off so badly in the first place that even after discounts it still seemed too much to pay.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
Threepints wrote: »Received the following email from Virgin todayFrom 1st July, our broadband helpline number is changing and from then on it’ll cost 25p per minute to call from a Virgin home phone, plus 10p to connect. Mobiles and other networks may vary. The new number is 0906 212 1111.
Over and above this, we want to make it quicker and easier for you to find the information you need. So when you need help, here’s what to do:
Step 1
If you’re having trouble with your broadband service, for example if it’s running slower than it should be, or you’re having trouble seeing certain pages, the first thing to do is switch off your computer and modem, then restart it again. This may repair any basic faults right away and get you back up and running quickly.
They obviously want to further discourage people calling them.
I think they should refund me cost of all the long calls I have made complaining over the years.

hi,
thought i'd throw my bit in...
i *thought* i was paying 3 for £30 but my last bills have been (use 18866 for most calls)
£21
£18
£7
£18
£14
£14
and the last one ... £13
go figure. In addition the bb access is quite slow 835.8 kilobits per second according to these guys
Want up upgrade to V+ but not really clear on their pricing and what with different deals for different people... its all over the place.

I would aim for £40-£50 off standard cost, but they may have tightened up on deals they are giving.

Peter,
I fear your last sentence is correct. The posts you link back to are now 3 months old. Scanning through the posts between then and now there are no reports that I can find of people getting deals as good as those you pulled together in 1218 and 1232.
I've tried negotiating with Virginmedia twice and have only been offered their standard 3 for £30 for my TV/broadband/phone package.

I've had exactly the same experience. I should have done it immediately after the loss of the sky channels.0 -
My current deal has just run out. So I've phoned to see what they can offer me now.
Currently have:TV Starter Package @ £5.50
Telephone @ £11.00
Broadband XL @ £37
Total: £53.50 per month.
For the past 6 months I've been getting a £15 credit on my account, due to me moaning about the high cost of my internet back in December. So realy I was only paying £38.50. But as I say, that has just ended.
Deal I've now got.TV XL Package [upgraded from Starter Package)
Telephone
Broadband XL
Total: £37.00
I didn't realy want the TV upgrade, but if I kept the existing package as it was, all he could offer me was a reduction to £41.50 per month - BUT if I increased my TV from Starter to XL then he would be able to reduce the total bill to £37.00. Madness
He did try to offer me free calls and low cost mobile/international calls but I wasn't interested.
I pushed for a V+ box, but he wouldn't budge from the £150 install price. Even when I mentioned I could get Sky+ installed for free (Small white lie, cos that deal finished on the 19th June).
So I've gone with the XL TV upgrade and credits to my account reducing entire bill to £37 per month - Guaranteed not to increase for at least 12 months (possibly more he said), with no tie ins. He also advised to phone back in 3-6 months to see if they could do a better deal for a V+ box.

What price did he offer including Talk Unlimited (size XL) with/without Talk Mobile/International ??
So you would have all 3 size XL (TV, Phone, Broadband).

Sorry, I didn't push them on a price for the phone upgrade. I sort of dismissed it when he mentioned mobiles and international calls. I have plenty of free airtime with my contract mobiles and don't call international so it didn't interest me. Then again, if in the crazy pricing structure of VirginMedia, upgrading the phone may have meant a further reduction in the total price, I guess I should have asked. DOH!!0
