The 12 month fine print lock-in, seems to be a new general Virgin ploy on changes to services, not just new packages.

Anyone confirm this is definately so?

I have been with NTL for over 7 years and the only product I have is Broadband Internet. Prior to Virgin taking over, I have always managed to get 6 months @ £10/month discount every year. I rang Virgin to see if they would offer me any discounts and they said that I will have to continue paying £18/month or I could go to one of their 2 for £20 deals. I want to continue using my BT line as I am using Euphony and have SKY TV.

Has anyone else managed to get a good deal from Virgin for just their Broadband?

I am thinking of cancelling and moving to SKY Broadband? Anybody have any experience of this?

Hi got my bill this morning which had gone upto £18. I phoned 0800 0522620 and just said that my bill had gone up and wanted to query it. He put me through to their Customer Services and the person I spoke to, without any hesitation, put it back to £10 for 12 months. He did say it was too late for this month's bill but at least I would not have to worry thereafter for another 12 months (before they use to only give me 6 months).

12 month contract is per service.
Now phone / tv / bb each seperate service.
u can upgrade / downgrade service
however if u move house ur contract will be reset.

    Hey all,

I haven't read ALL the threads on here but I've read quite a few and I was hoping to reduce NTL costs for my mum and was looking for your advice please! I've had a look on the Tiscali site but it says you must have a non-cable line to switch over to them and the line rental combined with BB is £14.99 which sounds great. And also talktalk are pretty cheap but again, they require a BT line. Could I still use these as an example of a cheaper provider when I ring up NTL? My mum's paying:

    £11.00 line rental
    £18.00 BB 2mb
    and £5.50 for TV

I think this is a bit much and wanted to get the 'new' customer offer of £10.00 pm for BB and I think that £11.00 is too expensive for line rental because she hardly uses the phone and uses her mobile for most calls nowadays. What's the cheapest I can expect to get for my phone/BB bills and are there any cheaper providers?

Help would be much appreciated and thanks! :D

If she doesn't use it she could drop the phone line all together.

Yeah I was thinking that but she uses it for 0870/0845 numbers because it costs a lot to call them on her mobile. Trying to get her into using saynoto0870....but sometimes there's no alternative number listed so it's useful to have the phone line available for that. She probably makes about 3 calls a day but she works from home so needs a phone line to receive calls as well.

where did you find that 08000522620?? i'll give that number a try monday, fingers crossed.
However i'm thinking of moving my BB and phone line, i gave BT a ring to see if there was a line installed at my address so i didn't have to pay £124  luckly enough i've got a line already installed, so i assume :p i'ts just a case of reconnecting it?

Not sure if that 0800 number still works but if not and as she has a ntl (virgin) phone just phone 150 from her phone and go through to retentions, that's free too

I am in the exact same position. I am about to switch my phone to BT. (I have never had BT but I am sure BT was in before). The big questions is if I switch my phone back to BT is there a 12 mont tie in with the BT phone? Because I would like to consider one of the cheap ISP's that inlcudes line rental.

    Hmm

I am unsure what I am going to do with my broadband move - I am currently on 20mb broadband and want to cut down to 4mb. Does that mean I automatically end up in a new 12 month contract?

PS the reason I was on 20mb was for one of the propmotional prices.
