Now thing is I have never received a bill for my reduced BB. I only get phone bills once a month with no mention of BB. the phone bill is talk unlimited & 14.99 pm with some additional call costs.
So Can I go back to Virgin and ask for a speed upgrade even though I don't seamed to have been charged, but still get a service. Or once they look will they then say they want to try and claim back unpaid monthly fees even though I have never cancelled the DD and they could take money when they want?.
You're getting free 4Mb Broadband & if you change package your billing account will be updated.
Why swop free 4Mb Broadband to pay for 10Mb ??

I get two separate bills for phone and BB (BB bill being sent through the my email). Are you sure they're not charging you or you may get a nasty surprise at full rate?0 -
A million thanks to everyone for advice on this thread. At last I persuaded my grumpy old husband(the account holder) to phone up and ask for a better deal!He HATES doing this sort of thing 'cos he thinks they will start arguing and giving him a row(!) but I did my research on alternative companies, told him to be nice to whoever he spoke to and say his wife wanted to change but he was happy with the service (true-apart from losing The Simpsons and Sky news)and ask what could they do for him?
We were on £63.50 per month
TV-XL
Phone-Talk unlimited
Broadband-2 meg
Now, thanks to this brilliant forum, we have a lifetime reduction to £34.95 per month with NO arguing!I then got him to ask for free caller display too(worth £1.75 and will help to avoid my Mother-in Law!)and they added this with no problems asking if there was anything else they could do!The discount starts on the bill already being prepared and I am DELIGHTED!:money:0 -

He can give them your name and a password and you can call up with the password on his behalf.0 -

well I decided to give NTL/VIRGIN MEDIA a call today as I have been a customer for 7 years and told them i wanted to knock packages of to reduce my bill they aked why I told them I got better deals with sky to my amazement they knocked £10.50 a month right of the top of my monthly bill and then offered free week-end calls they did offer to upgrade my broadband for half price from 2mb to 4 mb but i would have to cancel in 3 months but i declined that as i would end up forgetting and get a higher bill but for
5 minutes phone call this afternoon I have saved £126 per year and get free week-end national calls well please so if you are sitting thinking I must do that get on the phone now it couldn't be easier and I'M chicken and I did it all the best thanks everyone a little push from you lot I'M SORTED THANKS!0 -
How'd you do this in 5 minutes? Trying to get through the customer service by phone is a nightmare... Anyone have a direct number or something of the sort with this sort of thing?0

Just wondering if anyone could help me to find out what sort of discount i could expect, the following is what i currently pay:
4 Additional V Box (£60)
Sky movies and Sky sports (£23.50)
TV Size XL (£20.50)
Broadband Size M - 2MB (£18)
Telephone Line Rental (£11)
Fully Itemised Billing (£1)
Talk Off Peak (£0)
Total: £134 + any call charges
I found it strange that until a couple of months ago we had free line rental and then suddenly it went to £11 a month. We can't remember getting a latter informing us the price would increase for line rental, did anyone else get a letter?
Anyone got any tips for what i could get discounts for? We have been with Nynex, which then went to Cable and Wireless, which then went to NTL, which then went to Virgin mediaSo we've been customers for atleast 10years
Hope you can help

Retentions number is 0800 052 9403-(the one we used because we're already customers)
Customer service is 0800 073 0591
(Both freephone!)
Just had a letter from Virgin today saying Talk Unlimited going down from £14 pm to £9.95 and Talk Evenings and Weekends from £5.50 to £3.95. Calls are being rounded UP to the nearest minute i/o second.
Keep trying to get through and hopefully you'll get an even better deal!0
