mrs thats exactley the same what we were offered yesterday, a good thing we were told was that if we see an offer(if its better than what we have) advertised that we were liked we'd be eligible to get the offerNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
Not Sure about what will happen with the SKY / Virgin gridlock of SKYOne? but looks like that both parties will back off few steps and virginmedia customer will get sky one.
Why? Sky will otherwise loose a lot from advert and Virgin will loose customers and many of them wont join sky but will go to freeview
Money saver can always get most out of this situation.
So as a money saving(yet to become an) expert.
I called up and chatted with virginmedia retention person and shown that i am worried(cant threat them that I will leave them can I as I already have 7 months left in my contract)
Then ask him to some compensation.
He gave me BB M (2 mb)
TV Large(for 6 mnths)
all for 9.99.(I dont have phone from them)
Hello I can't call this as money saving can I?
I was already on bb-2 mb and TV M (or free) for 9.99 But I managed to get more out of my money
If you wanna more call before they reach an agreement.
If anyone get a better deal then let me know as I wanna save MORE.....
Happy moneysaving

Saeed wrote:what is the best deal people have got on the following from Telewest 3 for £30 deal:
TV Large (used to be called starter)
BB 2mb
Telephone Medium (free weekend calls)
-2Mb Broadband (M)
-Base TV Pack (L)
-Talk Weekends (M) with Call Reminder, Fully Itemised Billing
I'm not happy anymore with this deal & all the problems I have had with my Broadband.
Initially I thought I was getting good deal with £16.50 discount off £43.25 standard costs, but I did not know about "3 for £30" Special Offer.
Here's my 1st thread from few weeks ago:
Bingo: £16.50/month discount on NTL/Virgin Media
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=372436
I complained about problems I was having & rearranged my package (downgraded from 4Mb to 2Mb) just after NTL became Virgin Media & did not know about "3 for £30" deal at the time.
I now realise NTL/Virgin have ripped me off !!
Lady said she was giving me a discount because of problems I was having, but I now realise she was just giving me small discount off the "3 for £30" standard deal.
I've been ripped off !!

But see you are not overpriced the whole nation is.
To be entertain at reasonable price is everyone's right but in our country
We pay
10 just for rcving signals
and 20 for a decent package.(almost 3-4 % of a decent salary just to get some options to entertain at home add cinema etc on top of that and how many of us see tely? only 2-4 hours a day max)
Nobody so far asked these company why you are charging so more. Not even govt.
Things have been chaged significantly in last few years.
Companies never bothered about existing customers and they say go to hell if you are in a contract with them
but now they are trying to retain customers (especially O2 thread).
I advice you to call them and negotiate more (before Sky and Virgin come to settlement)
and keep nagging them.
I see it the begining of an era where we can get things at reasonable price.
Cheers

Read this thread last night and decided to ring Virgin today. Went in with the line "Why should I carry on paying you £56.50 per month when I can get virtually the same for just under £37 from Sky/BT?"
Immediately the guy said that they could do better and offered my existing package (phone, 4Mb broadband and XL TV) plus free evening and weekend calls for £35/month - no strings, no fixed term. That's £21.50 cheaper than I've been paying and I get more for my money.

i depends which guy you speak to tbh, we got a similar deal as robhall1973 but rob has got 4mb for an extra 5pNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Hi
third phone call to Virgin today eventually paid off. We got VIP package with Setanta rather than sky sports for £66.51 on a permanent package so well chuffed. £20 cheaper than they quoted me at first with better spec - XL broadband, TV and phone with reduced international and mobile calls
