being fair Customer service are open 8am to midnight now.
Retentions are 9-5 though, as it's not mainline customer service.0 -
Fair point. But let's be honest most people work or at least commute, between 9-5 so if you do want to disconnect it makes it a bit tough, especially as you have to use an 0845 number if you aren't ringing from a Telewest line. Is it totally unreasonable these days to expect a department to be open until 6?0

This place is great for grumpy old (tight) folks like me!
After reading this thread, thought I'd have a pop. Been a Telewest customer for a few years, was paying (after some negotiation and discount last year)
Talk U/L £25.00
2meg BB £17.99
Now got:
Talk U/L (inc caller id)
10meg BB
Talk international, talk mobile packages
V+ (HD) box, TV 'XL' package inc movies & sports
additional std box with mirror sub
2 x SIM's for mobiles, 300 X network any time minutes, 300 texts
All for £85 p/m. (£65 + £10p/m for each SIM) No new contract, 30 day trial.
Was paying Sky £43.50 for one Sky+ box, £40 p/m approx for 2 mobiles with Vodafone (150 mins x/n mins, 100 texts & 60 mins voda to voda/landline, no texts)
I had been paying in the region of £125 p/m before the call! It took an hour, but saving £40 a month's gotta be worth it, hasn't it?!!
Used the 150 number by the way.
Go on guys - do it now!!!!!0 -

Not if you use https://www.saynoto0870.com.
We're on Talk Unlimited (now XL) package and never pay for 0870 or 0845. Just find the geographical equivalent and use that, otherwise they do clobber you, cost-wise.

A few month ago I negociated a 3 for £40 deal with telewest (ie phone M, TV L and b/b L).
I rang them today (customer services not retention) to renegociate this as I still think I don't get value for money. I was disappointed to learn that there was a 12 months contract length with my current deal and they couldn't do me anymore deal until next august. Obviously I was never told at the time nor did I recevied a letter to inform me.
Do you thinhk I might have better luck if I ring retention rather than customer services?0 -
I also agree with you.
As part of globalisation things are changing but still very slow. Just imagine if Virginmedia employee have to call upany other company (say sky / o2 / bank) that don't take call after 5:30 what will he do?
His / her boss won't allow him 1 hour off just to change the plan or discuss bill.
Thank God some company started to realise that they have to offer extended service but still a long way to go.0 -

Could you possibly try again and say you want to renegotiate because the Sky channels have been taken off you? Use this as leverage.0 -

You don't have to threaten them.
I have 7 mnth left in my contract.
Just ask them politely and see if he orshe is willing to give you some offer.
if not then try again later.
BUT DO NOT CALL SUSTOMER SERVICE AS THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY RIGHTS
Good luck0 -

how do you find the equivalent number,,please:o0 -
OK, following on from yesterday, this time I did get through to the right person (after 20 minute wait). Currently paying £48 for smallest TV pack, sky sports (all 4), phone & 2mb BB, which alreday includes a small discount. Spoke to the nice man and now have - Supreme TV, Sky Sports, phone & 2mb BB for £37 - Result!!
Happy Bunny. May have been able to negotiate inclusive calls but as we spend onaverage £2.50 a month on them, I'm not too bothered.0
