Hi all deal grabbers
Probably not the best but I got TalkUnlimited 24 and XL 10mb BB with virgin for £25 per month without much haggling. worth a quick phone call i think!!:beer:Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p0 -
got family pack 2 mg broadband and phone at the mo for 30quid,i rang them to moan about virgin losing channels, they gav me sky sports package for 5 quid a month for 12months0

Has anyone managed to get broadband for less than half price?
We just have 10mb for £17.50, using freeview for TV and VOIP for phone so don't need either of these.
Was just wondering if I could get this any lower?0 -
i phoned virgin in an attempt to get a better deal on my 3 for £29 (starter TV, 2mb bb, phone with free wk end calls). I said I didn't use the TV and phone that much and since the sky channels are going it is poor value for money so I may as well cancel the whole package. He said OK to my astonishment! No what can we do to keep you, or offering me any incentives at all. Mid cancellation I asked how much it would be to just keep the broadband and he said £18, I almost fell over, I can get the same from Virgin for £15 on their website +quidco! I was hoping I could keep the broadband and use VoIP (get rid of Telewest phone) and either get Sky dish without subscription or use freeview (and get shot of the tempermental Telewest box).
So they now have 30 days notice from me. What is the chance of them calling me up and offering me some deals on the broadband??? Have they ever called anyone here back to offer them cheaper service, otherwise I may have to eat my words and call them to keep the broadband!0 -

Where did u called? Customer service(regular) or retention dept? Regular customer service do not have rights to offer you much anyway.
I have a strong feeling that Virgin is not offering much these days.
Try calling them again and put words like loyalty etc. if they do not agree then you can anyway take a new connection from them.
I am sure you can get BB for 9.99.(like I am getting 2 mb BB + TV large) for 9.99
If you are taking BB from telewest then better to go for VOIP. much cheaper much better.0 -
Called Customer retentions on their 0800 number. The guy that answered sounded really apathetic, so I let him cancel it. I will wait for 3 weeks and see if they ring me during the notice period, if not then I will either ring them in the final week and see if I can squeeze the 9.99 deal out of them or sign up again, just for BB 14.99/month + 40 quidco .....ooops just checked quidco VM not listed ...telewest not listed ... hmmmmmjswaminathanuk wrote:Hi,

So I called Virgin today and spoke to customer care. I said I'd been browing Sky's deals and they worked out better for me, but I'd rather stay with Virgin. He offered me the VIP package for £85 and I said I didn't need the full phone things like free calls and international discounts, but he said that's the best he could do. He said I'd need to speak to customer services for them to offer me discounts. He then put me through to someone else who said he couldn't give discounts either - I'd need to speak to retentions! He took my number and said someone would call me back.
A couple of hours later and I got the call. I explained that I had selected the things I needed on the Sky website and they came to £63.50, but that I hated Sky and would rather stay with Virgin if they could help. I specified:
basic phone package (M - free weekend calls)
all TV channels (XL)
10mb broadband (XL)
Sky Sports
the V+ box
an additional set-top box for the bedroom
He said that they would usually come to £99.75 and detailed the breakdown. He then asked if I wanted to keep my caller display which I pay £1.75 for and I said yes. I then cheekily said I'd also like a 'no Simpsons' discount please lol. He then applied a load of discounts and came back with £60 per month for 12 months!
He told me that the V+ box has 80 hours of recording and is HD ready. The Sky+ has 40 hours and costs £99, and if you want the HD version it's £299!!! I'm getting the V+ box and the additional box for free.
I'm utterly delighted with my new deal! They've already upgraded my broadband and are coming to install the new box next Monday - excellent! :T0 -
After getting decent deals with Virgin, yet suffering the lack of loyalty from SKY, Once this season of 24 has finished on SKY ONE, i'm cancelling sky. Hopefully they will reap what they sow if they dont care about customer retention.
As anyone heard if or when SKY are cancelling their £10 sky + subscriptions so i can save some money ?Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p0 -
Ooh Virgin and Sky have really p****d me off now! Previously in this forum I posted the deals they both told us we could have if we switched to them for all three services (to recap, currently have all six mixes plus movies, sport and Sky+ with Sky, and unlimited phone and broadband through Virgin – was Telewest).
Sky warned me that Virgin might lose Sky Sports News, Sky One and Sky News but Virgin swore BLIND that this would never happen in a million years. Now, of course, that's exactly what's happened.
Am very glad we hadn't got round to acting on their advice (being indecisive, pros and cons for each option obviously).
But now none the wiser with what we should do as we were definitely swinging towards going to Virgin for all three...
Ho hum!!0
