Yes, Virgin/NTL are now offering permanent retention deals.

Don't forget, some people have got some good deals, so you may be able to get some Free upgrades.

Talk Mobile -worth £1.50/month (discount on calls to mobiles)
Talk International -worth £1.50/month (discount on International calls)
Caller Display & other similiar services (if any use)

Also they now do a Free TV pack (like Freeview).

I will ring them tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

has anyone looked at my charges? do you think im getting a good deal? apparently the goodwill gesture of £29.55 is going to be put on every month now........

    thanks
  • Just got 2Mb BB & Phone inc 'Unlimited' for £19.99
  • Which number are people phoning to get the deals on a permanent basis?

I phoned this morning and was told they could only apply the discounts for 3 months and that I would have to phone again. It's a pain having to keep doing this.

This is because you have not got one of the permenant deals that the system allows to put on indefinitely. I currently have BB XL and phole XL at £25 per month but I have to call every 3 months. If you ask them what permenant deals they do, they should tell you and although it may not be as cheap as a 3 month deal, it will be cheaper than their normal prices.
Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p

0800 052 9403 option 3 if you're and ntl customer or 150 from your virgin phone
Are you longterm customer out of contract period ??

You need to speak to Retentions.
Phone 150, select option "You are thinking of leaving" or 0800 052 9403 option 3 to get through to Retentions.

After Virgin/NTL rebrand came in early Feb, they were giving Permanent discounts on deals they offered.

Not sure what's happening now, after things kicked off with Sky & many people started complaining, asking for deals.

You need to phone & find helpful person who will give Permanent deal you want.
Each Retentions person behaves differently, they may offer number of possible deals or only 1 or 2 deals.

If one person doesn't sound helpful, make excuse to drop call, phone back again, until you find right Retentions person.

Mention loss of Sky channels, TalkTalk, you don't package is as good value anymore etc.

You have changed from Set Top Box to Modem for Broadband.

How did you connect Modem up or did they install extra cable ??

NTL suggested I do this & change to Modem for my Broadband ??

a guy just came and fitted a modem for me - its like a little black box that he connected to my cable box and then to the wire running from that into the computer - so, the only thing changed is like hes put this modem inbetween to act as a booster but everything else is wired the same - took 5minutes to do - and i do notice the difference.....

I contatced NTL last year to reduce my BB bill was on 17.99 for a 2mb connection it was dropped to 8.98 and speed increased to 4mb. we were originally an NTL world customer telly/net/phone, I dropped the TV last year and went freeview but still have phone and BB. Now thing is I have never received a bill for my reduced BB. I only get phone bills once a month with no mention of BB. the phone bill is talk unlimited & 14.99 pm with some additional call costs.

So Can I go back to Virgin and ask for a speed upgrade even though I don't seamed to have been charged, but still get a service. Or once they look will they then say they want to try and claim back unpaid monthly fees even though I have never cancelled the DD and they could take money when they want?.
