Just an update, the offer I got of 56ppl in year 1, max 5ppl increase in year 2 was reinstated with a deadline to sign up before 1 December (tomorrow) and a nudge that it's recommended customers sign up now if eligible as "the market outlook is now looking ver poor particularly from Feb onwards" which is a bit worrying.

That offer is nowhere near as good as Kassy64 who seems to have secured a competitive 2 year fixed ppl.

I'm in a quandary, my existing contract runs out on 18 Jan (at 33ppl), I can't get quotes from anyone else until I'm within 30 days of my contract end date. I've still got 69% in the tank, desperate to get one last fill up at 33ppl before 18 Jan but looking unlikely as I imagine they'll refuse to fill up if tank reads over 50%. Even in the depths of winter I only use a max of about 5 percentage points a week. And if I sign a new contract at 56ppl they've got no incentive to fill me up at my current rate.

Out of interest I got a fresh quote for connection to mains gas as it's come a bit nearer to us with some new houses built... it'd now be £12,500. Still too much for us unfortunately :(

Is it worth asking LPG Compare (not LPG Save) to get you some figures and just say your contract ends soon. Thats what I did and used this price to get Flogas down by matching what I had been offered with Avanti. I didn't have to push too much (just an email) and LPG Save came down from the 55ppl; originally offered to 51 ppl.
I was in a similar situation to you as was on 38 ppl but had a delivery in October so was unlikely to get a refill at the lower price before my contract expired hence why I went ahead now.
agree re. mains gas it would take a long time to recover those costs (if at all)
56 ppl is a reasonable price in current climate especially if you could get them to drop the year 2 increase.

Even at 56ppl, that's cheaper than the current mains gas price per kWh!

I do wonder if the customers postcode/area reflects the price offered. There may be factors such as remoteness, how many other customers are nearby, location to nearest storage depot etc etc. These are all factors which may affect the price offered so don't be too upset with a slightly higher price, more importantly and relevant would be prices being offered to customers in your area. I am in Sussex and suspect there may slightly more customers and probably less remote areas (this is all guesswork just wondering why there is such a variation in prices). Good luck.

Probably also depends on how far you are from the refinery.

Our Flogas contract ends 6th Jan, we're currently paying £0.33 + vat pl.

received letter dated 7th December stating if we don't sign a new contract then the default it £0.75 pl + vat, plus £75 delivery surcharge but the 'special offer' is £0.68 pl with no mention of the delivery charge.

Then received email 15th December with a special offer of £0.50pl + vat for year 1, no mention of year 2 but need we need to sign up within 7 days or the offer is rescinded.  It's like dealing with a 1980's double glazing sales person.

We're awaiting a tank top-up which should see us through to March so will wait and see what happens, but it would be good to know what people are currently being offered.

2 year contract just started mid December, 51 ppl - no 2nd year increase. Up from previous contract at 38 ppl.
That's for SE England. Original offer was 55 ppl but they sort of price matched a competitor's quote.

A quick update on my earlier posts, rightly or wrongly I've just resigned to Flogas via the lovely people at LPG Save.

Reasonably happy although I really had hoped for a 2 year capped rate, this was the best I could get and I'm glad it's all over for another 2 years:

    Year 1 - 53ppl fixed
Year 2 - 5ppl cap on any increase
Daily rental - 21.9p per day (same as current)

I also managed to get a top up from Flogas last week at my outgoing rate of 33ppl which I considered a win.

Not wanting to sound like an advert for Flogas, I was interested to read about their storage facility near Bristol, anything that improves supply and pricing for those of us at the mercy of the unregulated LPG market has to be a good thing.

  • Hi all

Similar to others, my contract (Flogas) just come to an end so I've been looking at new quotes including LPGSave.
Two things I'm not sure about though is:

    1. I have enough LPG for another 2 or 3 months (assumes same usage as last year) so should I wait another month and see if quotes improve as hopefully the weather improves or switch now?

    2.  Many giving option of fixed year 1 and then variable year 2. These only seem worthwhile if the variable rate in 12 months time is <70ppl.  I can't help think it's try and sucker punch you in with low fixed year1 and then recover on year2 with a hike in variable!  Appreciate it's a bit of a crystal ball question, but what's the general consensus?

    Thanks!
