Could be worth trying to get a fix for the two years.

What does the contract say about price rises?

  • Had a quote from LPG-Save (Flogas) for 48ppl, fixed for two years. I don't see that as being bad, as my current supplier increased from the fixed of 35ppl to around 80ppl (due to me not reading a clause in the contract properly).

I'll make sure I read the contract properly this time, but has anyone had any experience of points that Flogas may try to sneak in there?

    Thanks

I was with Flogas & they wanted 42p per litre around one year ago to renew my contract. So i started to shop around & oddly enough contacted LPG-Save & they got me an 18 month contract at 40p & this was with Flogas. "Go figure". I still have this for another 6 months & will make sure i get a full top up in just under six months.

    Hi all,

we've just moved into a house with LPG (bulk tank) and are trying to sort out a contract (previous owner died so assuming their contract died with them). The vendor put 700l in just before we moved in, but the gauge has broken so no idea how much we actually have in there.

Trying to get quotes out of Calor, Avanti, Flogas and another local one is like pulling teeth. Have requested LPG-Save try to find some quotes.

Current supplier (tank owner) is Northern Energy who have quoted 50ppl (plus the yearly fee) but the ppl is variable, no fixed rate on a 2 year contract. According to the rep, no one is doing fixed rate deals atm. Does that sound correct?

Thanks for any and all advice!
  • Thanks Sorting Hat for the advice. Your spot on regarding the 28 day contract, the form came in for Agreement it as 2 years on it as you stated. MIght give this one a go

Hi Newbie here. Does sound ok any advice awesome.

Moved into house in stix with LPG bulk gas tank. Use wood for the fires from the trees lots of them around here so not had to refill the gas tank yet, just use for showers and hot tap water. Looking at needing some gas at some point, been here for eight months and tanks says 20% still in it. Been paying Calor for tank rent £18 a quarter as previous people bough off them, but no contract signed with them yet. Tried Flo and Calor prices quite high two year contract too. Tried a local company Carver Gas, they gave this quote. Is it as good as one can expect by going with a local supplier? Many thanks for any advice

Minimum 750 litre delivery that is for free within 40 miles of Carver Gas.

    55p per litre

    28 day contract

£60 rental yearly for gas tank, two weeks to set up taking over it from Calor

It may be worth calling Carver Gas again as they do offer a 28 day contract as well as the standard 2 year contract.  It sounds like they have just sent you the wrong contract on this occasion.  I know of a few people who have the 28 day contract with them.  It seems to work well as it keeps them honest with prices knowing you can leave at any time.

My experience with Northern Energy is to be very careful!! I had the fixed contract with them (35ppl) but this rose to 80ppl during the 2 year fixed. My fault, as I didn't read the clause in the contract, but still, I would say that I was charged an extortionate amount. I've gone via LPG-Save and that's come via FloGas, and definitely offering 2 year fixed (48ppl).

Basically, they're not telling the truth when they're saying there's no fixed deals around.

Thanks you so much for the info. I contacted LPGSave who have come back with 50ppl fixed for 2 years (Flogas), just need to chop down an overgrown shrub and take some pics.

Has anyone had any contact from your electric provider regarding the £100 grant for LPG and oil users.
No nothing, but following your post, I have just emailed my provider to see if they know anything about it.  I would rather have the money sooner rather than later, as my tank will need a top up very soon.

Here is a link to the current guidance, should anyone wish to have a read.

£200 announced 17/11/22 in the Autumn Statement but still no method of payment announced.
If anyone see’s an update please post.

For anybody wishing to know what best deals are at moment. I have just been offered to re-contract with Flogas at 51 ppl plus 21.9 pence per day standing charge fixed for 24 months. I'm fairly happy with that price (coming from current price of 38 ppl) bearing in mind what's going on in the world and energy prices etc.
They matched a price I had from Avanti (with higher daily rate), so came down from my initial quote.
All in all happy to be on a reasonable price for the next 2 years.
This is in the SE of England.
ps - from my initial enquiries the above contract is fixed for 2 years, all my previous contracts with Flogas have had a 2nd year clause where price can rise by 2 ppl max.
I wonder if they know something about the market, we don't going forward. But strange they haven't put it in just in case.

That sounds like a very good deal. Just had a quote via LPG Save to recontract with Flogas for 56ppl fixed in year 1 then capped at no more than 61ppl in year 2, standing charge 21.9p per day. I'm in West Yorkshire
