And that means if anyone in your postcode is on mains gas the process will not be automatic. In South Wales this will be fairly common.Poundnote said:The energy companies have a list of post codes of those premises that are not on mains gas. This in turn will form the basis of paying the £200 starting February 2023.
It is automatic as the energy company will know from the meter serial number that it is not on mains gas and therefor can not suppl;y gas.

No. If *anyone* in your postcode has mains gas, the payment will not be automatic.Poundnote said:wwally said:

Off topic- has anyone done the calculations for moving from LPG Combi to Air Source Heat Pump. Can someone point me to a different thread. It looks like with the government grant it looks like a similar price to replace a combi.
My LPG 2 year deal ends in October, I want to plan forward.0 -
I haven't, but would be interested in seeing responses here. We're considering it - but a lot further down the line. From what I've read you really need to have a fully insulated property (doors and windows are on the list for us). I'm not totally convinced on ASHP at the moment - it seems it works for some people but the price of electricity is a lot higher than gas so as you say would be interested in seeing the calculations.philtrick123 said:Off topic- has anyone done the calculations for moving from LPG Combi to Air Source Heat Pump. EDF have told me today that I will receive an email or letter from them regarding the Alternative Fuel Payment in March and payment in April so much for the Government stating it would be paid in February.0

E-on appear to be paying theirs now. (Mine came yesterday)
Looks like the Germans are more efficient than the French!2 -

Got a notification from Scottish Power (email and SMS) yesterday that they have paid my Alternative Fuel Payment into my account yesterday. Not showing in my account yet though but I'm not worried as I've already had three of the £67 Energy Bills Support Scheme payments with no issues and the dates on the notifications and the actual payments never match.1

yes, we did this and IIRC our heating costs would go UP by ca £200pm because of the high electric use of the ASHP. We'd also have a large up front payment which would be just about repaid over 7 years by the appropriate scheme. This was because the calcs used by the company are based upon your EPC rather than actual usage. However we live in a drafty listed building with stone walls so have high use.philtrick123 said:Off topic- has anyone done the calculations for moving from LPG Combi to Air Source Heat Pump. My take away was that you'd need to have a very energy efficient home for it to be worthwhile.1
