Regarding the AFP: Had am email from Shell Energy, on Friday 24th, informing me my AFP would be credited to my bank account on or around Monday 20th February - I'd been wondering why RBS wasn't sending me notifications about going into arranged overdraft facility. Very welcome, especially as car licence due tomorrow, and third (and final) instalment due to JGas around 4th March Sadly, it won't cover both costs. Been with JGas for several years now, and can't fault company in any way. Price increase at beginning of January due to selfish owners of Mossmorran, and is possibly cause of problems with Avanti failure to deliver. Be nice if they gave you an explanation, and a delivery - even portable cylinders. Might be worth contacting your MP.1

Have just had an email from Shell Energy with the following:
Quote:We know these are difficult times for energy customers and are committed to giving extra help where it’s needed. So we’re writing to let you know we’re crediting your Shell Energy account with £150. You should see the credit appear on your next bill, marked as a ‘winter support payment’. It comes from the £50 million support package we’ve set up to help those who need it most - this winter, and beyond. The payment is in addition to your Warm Home Discount payment of £150, which has already been credited to your account. End of quote.
I didn't know I was getting WHD payment of £150, so double boost. I use 140 - 150 kWhs a month, so it is nearly covered by the Govt Energy help scheme. Shell hasn't been taking full DD since it started, and didn't take anything in February - now I know why. Will now have to find out if they'll credit previous overpayments back to my account.0 -
So I waited all day, well all month actually, and the £200 AFP never turned up in my electricity account (rolls eyes).
I rang Octopus, they don't know what to do.
I rang the government helpline but they are only dealing with the people who aren't getting the Energy Bills Support Scheme (ie the £67 per month credit on the electricity bill which I am getting), they don't deal with the AFP (in fact the person on the helpline confused it with the EBSS).
Looking at gov.uk, it says "you may have to apply for this payment through the AFP Alternative Fund if you do not get it automatically - for example, because you do not have a contract with an electricity supplier...Applications will open in early March". Assume that will be anytime on or after tomorrow, although it doesn't state which March!

Has anyone recently taken out a new contract or in negotations with Avantigas?
It seems they have removed the cap completely with regard to wholesale prices - `Your price cannot increase by more than 5 pence in any given 6-month period for operational costs, there is no cap applied to increases as a result of the wholesale market'
There used to be a clause that if the price went over a certain threshold you could leave the contract. It seems now you can fix the price for 6 or 12 months and for the rest of the 24 month contract its based on the wholesale cost - and how are you supposed to find that out in the cloak and dagger LPG industry.
I have contacted other suppliers and they still provide a cap threshold so you could renegotiate the contract or leave to another supplier. Avantigas seem to expect me to just roll over and accept their terms...
Interested for others comments and I'd like to take this further to the OFT / ombudsman as I believe this is unfair practice by Avantigas.0 -

We still haven't. My 89yo Dad is here (I've informed them of that several times) and he spent yesterday wearing his massive sheepskin coat with a hot water bottle tucked in, a blnaket, and my Finnish husband's arctic hat. It's 10 degrees in our living room - which is obviously too cold for someone so elderly.
I am almost incandescent with rage (shame we can't harness that heat...)
Avantigas have reached Nestle levels of 'terribleness' and disgrace in my estimation: I will never, ever, deal with them again - on principal - even if they offer the lowest price. I'm sure I'm not the only one. They're f-ing themselves over with this level of 'service'.
Had to argue with them about how I was turning the heating off, they claimed that would extend my delivery window, I pointed out I wouldn't have to if if they'd delivered in their specified timescale!
Our fillup today was 85% of the tank, so we were literally about to run out...Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard1 -
