sudden water bill - newmarket, UK - confused!
I bought this property in newmarket, cambridgeshire during end of last year. I remeber the estate agent saying that there is no water bill in this area, but received a letter from anglian water last week asking whether this property is occupied & water meter readings which has first 3 digits filled by someone, but I don't…

Water bill up from £44 to £76 a month!
There are only two of us living in a semi-detached house (it was our first year in the house) so I was surprised to see my bill jump to £76 a month. That's nearly as much as our energy bills! Looking in more detail we were charged £299 for 177 units of water and £348 for 160m of sewerage, but as we 'only' paid £450 thats…

7 year old water bill.
Hi All If anyone can give me some advice on this I would be very grateful. Affinity Water (previously Thames Water) have sent me a bill and a second letter threatening further charges etc for £19.92 for my previous address where I lived 7 years ago. I thought I had settled my bill when I moved house and have had no…

Non-metered charge discount
Thought I'd share the conversation I had this afternoon with Thames Water. I moved into a new flat, had the guy round to see if a meter could be fitted, turns out it can't because there are two separate supplies and one of them is shared with a bunch of my neighbours. Which I already knew, but I wanted to get on the…

2 year old water bill
hey guys, I have an issue with south west water. I fell ill with depression back in 2008. I was ill for about 4 years. within this time I was claiming employment support allowance and my water bill was being paid by water direct. In 2012, march, I started work again after recovering. I called through to the water company…

Apparently I use 412 litres a day?
I've just got a water bill and noticed my household apparently uses 412 litres a day... This seemed like an awful lot to me so I went online and found a calculator that worked it out based on bath, washing machine, people, etc, etc and even stretching the truth and saying that we have 1 more person and more showers etc,…

Another SWD thread ......
First off hi, long term reader / lurker, first time poster I have read lots of threads about a rebate / reduction in bills if the SWD doesn't discharge into the utility providers drains, but this is slightly different In summary we recently received a letter from United Utilities advising that they had only formally…

Outside water pipe cover
I have been reading on here about water pipe insurance and was wondering if I needed to get cover. The water meter for my supply is in my kitchen so I thought I only had to pay for anything from my side of the meter but I'm not sure that is the case. I have check on my buildings insurance paperwork which says I'm covered…

Smartsource Water
This company claims to save money on your water bill but how can they save if I'm on a rateable value charge? I've heard some strange stories about them like not returning phone calls. Has anyone had experience of this company and can they really save me money? Seems too good to be true! They may be ex-employees of the…

Yorkshire Water...... AAARRRGGGHHH!
We have just received a letter from YW to say that our monthly METERED payments are increasing from £28.00 pm to £80.00! When I queried this, I was told that we are high users, using approx. 500 Ltrs per day. How can this be possible, when there are only 2 of us in the Household and both work fulltime? I suggested that…

Why is my water bill so much (NON METERED)
Me and GF live in 2 bedroom flat, all pretty standard. We had high water bills initially, so got a meter. After receiving a REALLY BIG bill, and having an 8 week dispute, it turned out the meter was on a SHARED pipe! So, now the water company have removed it, checked the property and say unfortunately, we CAN NOT have a…

WARNING...Anglian Water Insurance.
The water supply pipe insurance info that I in the mail this morning shows an offer of first year at £12 and no mention of resulting years costs. This I believe to be £60 p.a. Yet anyone signing the direct debit form without checking is in for shock later on. Anglian Water would do well to ditch HOMESERVE.

Double the annual consumption?
We moved into a small rented 2 bed flat in January which has a water meter. Previously we were living in a two bed house where we paid a monthly charge of about £18 for water. It's just me and the OH in the flat. We each shower once daily (probably for about 15 minutes each), wash up twice a day, run the washing machine…
