18 digit reference number
Hello all, still waiting to get my call back to get my 18 digit reference number to pay my missing years. Been through all the steps, phone calls, written reply last December giving phone number to call for the ref number (called several times, put on hold for an hour and cut off) etc. Found the link to request a call back…

Class 2 overseas contributions letter April 25
Has anyone who pays class 2 contributions from abroad received their letter for the April payment this year? Mine usually arrives until mid April but I haven't received it yet. So I'm wondering - did it get lost in the post? Or has the deadline for paying old years caused so much havoc that the class 2 letters are sent out…

NICs shortfall rates - paying years 2019-2020 to 2024-2025 later on
Hi everyone, I got the letter from HMRC (after sending in CF83). This gives me 31 days to pay the years 2006-2007 to 2018-2019 (inclusive). For the years 2019-2020 to 2024-2025 I can pay later but the sum to pay (rate) would be subject to a penalty (e.g. the rate for 2020-2021 would be 795.60 if I pay in the next 31 days…

Future Pensions Service Callback
Does anyone know how long DWP are taking to callback? I had a text on 7 May acknowledging my request for callback. That was 8 weeks since I had submitted the form so roughly in line with what had been listed on website. On 19 May I received a call checking my details so that correct record could be prepared. Since then - 3…

When I click on "View details" it gives the message below "2006 to 2007 Year is not full Hide 2006 to 2007 details We are checking this year to see if it counts towards your pension. We’ll update your record when this is finished,…

Does price of buying 'missing' NI years change?
Hi, Following advice from forumites last year, which was really appreciated, my wife has decided to buy back 2 of the 3 'payable gap' years (£261.80 and £824.20 for 2021/22 and 2022/23 respectively. (The 2023/4 year probably isn't worth it as it would only get her an extra £1.32 as she is close to the maximum). Having…

Still haven't had a text or callback after registering for it on 3rd April - what should I do?
It has been well over 8 weeks now since I registered for a callback to pay a backdated NI contribution. What should I do now, do I just carry on waiting or should I try calling them and on what number? Thanks very much.

Clarification on National Insurance Contributions Gap Advice
Following Martin's suggestion, I contacted the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) before 6 April 2025 regarding my one-year gap in National Insurance contributions for 2010–2011. According to the DWP, I am short by £507.21 for that year. However, the agent advised that it may not be necessary to pay this gap if I…

Gov.uk pension phone line repeatedly cuts out
Spent over two hours on hold to clearly understaffed gov.uk pension line this morning. Three times I eventually got through and as soon as someone spoke to me, the line cut out. My phone is on the table in front of me, untouched, so it is their fault. Are other people experiencing this? I am unable to apply for my (2-years…

DWP not paid the amount they quoted in their letter
After listening to Martin, my wife established that she had a shortfall of NI payments and chose to pay for seven years, after she received a letter from the DWP informing her of how much she would receive for each year she paid upto a maximum of eight years shortfall. She waited at least 14 weeks before she was informed…

Not a dicky bird - How to chase from overseas
Hi all, I registered for a call back well before 5th April and have still not had a call, SMS, or anything... It has been 10 weeks, so I thought I better start chasing (I have my screenshots of when I requested a callback). So question is what the best way to chase them up, especially given that I am overseas. Thanks in…

Call back confusion - how long do we wait?
Here's the story so far. My wife registered for a call back. Eventually, about a month ago, she received the text message saying they'd call the next day. Of course, that didn't happen. Then about two weeks ago, she got a call from a "triage" handler asking for NIN and DoB. The handler said she should expect a call back to…

Future Pension Centre Disconnects
Off the back of listening to the many programmes on this topic, I checked and I do have gaps in my NI records between 6 April 2006 and 5 April 2018. When I go to the online service and put my information in, I get the below message. I’m pretty sure it’s because I’ve said I’ve lived and worked abroad. However every time I…

Awaiting callback - will have to pay the new increased prices?
I just missed a call from the DWP so hopefully will get another soon (did not get any text and they didn't leave any voicemail). My question was that after the call do I have to pay the new increased yearly prices, or will it be the same price as before April 5th, as it was not my fault that I could not pay online then and…

Contracting out of SERPS
I've been chasing up NI contribution missing years, turns out HMRC never notified DWP that I had paid two particular years. During the conversation with DWP they informed me I was contracted out for eight years early in my career, between 1977 ando 1985. I get a reduced New State Pension due to the missing years, which…
