Moneybox ISA FSCS Saving Protection
I have a Moneybox ISA, funds are held in with multiple banks, however they never hold more 50% of total funds with any single bank. So when it comes to FSCS protection it covers max £85000 per UK-regulated financial institution, does this mean the max you can hold protected with Moneybox is £85000 OR could this be higher…

Self assessment query
Hi, I've received my P800 tax calculation for FY23-24 and it correctly shows I earned just over £11k bank interest. It also says the tax will be collected from April next year (I'm paye) or I can make a one-off payment. Nowhere on my account does it ask me to complete an SA tax return. Would I still need to?

Ulster Bank business days
Yesterday I transferred funds from my Monument savings account as the rate was reducing to my Ulster bank loyalty saver. The display indicating interest rate in UB this morning says "Your interest rate is 2.00% gross, 2.00% AER. This is based on your balance from end of last business day. " The funds arrived about 10am…

Halifax Share Dealing Service
I've been buying a small amount of shares each month since the year dot, but now Halifax have emailed to say they're going to start charging me £30 a year for the privilege on top of their commission. This got me looking again at their Ts and Cs, and it appears my only two choices are to ask them to sell the shares and…

Castle Trust Bank
Does anyone have any experience of dealing with Castle Trust Bank? I'm exploring Fixed Rate savings bonds to 'home' £60K and they're offering a 1 year bond at 4.78% AER which looks pretty competitive. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard of them until today & know nothing about the bank other than the info on their web site so,…

Pensioners Tax on Investment Income
I am in the position this year, for the first time in a long while, where my investments to boost my pension have yielded a return much greater than the £1000 allowance. Following my retirement in 2012 I continued to forward a Self Assessment each year. I cancelled my Self Assessment status in 2002 after 10 years of paying…

Income Tax across Pension income and Dividends
Maybe this is a dumb question, but I am going to ask anyway. If I have taxable income across two streams - pension income and dividends as follows - Pension Income of £14,000 Dividends of £2,000. The total taxable income is £16,000 so tax is obviously due. If the tax free allowance is £12,570 - tax is due on the remaining…

This is to try and work out my tax position as accurately as possible for this 2024/2025 tax year. I totally appreciate that dividends are reinvested on acc units, but there is still income…
