Bond fund yields
I have a few
questions about bond fund yields. First, what is the best way to get an
accurate forward/distribution yield? Is HL accurate, showing eg 3.97% for Fidelity’s
gilt fund? Second, to what degree is
there a correlation between a gilt fund and a nominal gilt with a similar duration
(or is it the maturity of the fund…

NS&I Index Linkers
I've a sizeable tranche of IL bonds maturing in Feb next year. That will still leave me with several issues under the old terms until 2028 and, as the renewal terms with a lock-in doesn't float my boat, the current plan is to exit all, or most, at maturity. My understanding is that the minimum term, and lock-in, for…

Bristol & West winding up. Legacy demutualisation shares?
Any share-savvy people here? I've received tiny dividend amounts on a regular basis since it demutualised and thought this would continue for ever and a day. However, just received an inch-thick wadge of mail which, cut short, seems to say that this company is being wound up. Does anyone know what's actually going on here?…

Came across this when I was looking at gilts and tax friendly investment. But I am not able to find anything online. Was hoping for a list or some easier to understand language than the HMRC manual or its direct citation. Where should I be looking? Or do they exist at all? Thank you

Opening accounts
It seems to be impossible these days to open a financial
account without a mobile, so it looks as though I’m going to have to bite the
bullet. I have a mobile but have never needed the phone function. Since
I am only going to use it to receive texts from banks etc, what is the absolute
cheapest way to achieve this.
