opening a new isa for transfer
I opened a new cash ISA in April. It does not accept transfers. Meantime last year's old isa's high rate will fall to next to nothing in December. Can I open a new ISA to transfer in that money so that I may get a decent rate? I won't be putting new money in, merely transferring.

Maybe a lightbulb moment?
Don't know if it will work but just realised that Bank of Scotland are also offering the Vantage bonus (not quite the same as Lloyds but still useful) and so have applied for a Classic Vantage account. If that works perhaps it's possible to get another one too? Seeing saving rates almost disappear is making it difficult to…

Hi I have been investing in self select shares online through an ISA for years. Moved from Self Trade a year or so ago as their account charges were too much. Withdrawal from Europe - Market Fears?
Given the current rise in public opinion in favour of the UK withdrawing from the EEC, and the possibility of a referendum on our membership, should investors with holdings in the UK market be worried? The UK is the largest market in my portfolio and I'm considering reducing this.

Allied Irish Bank (Savings Direct)
Allied Irish Bank (Savings Direct) have now ceased offering any new products, as of 23/11/2012. I enquired about their products last week and they only had a 12 month fixed term account, now they have nothing! This only applies to the Savings Direct arm of the bank.

First Direct Regular Saver account question
I have been looking at the First Direct regular saver at 8% and in the information it says I would get roughly £156 in interest if I saved £3600 over the year. Now I don't know if I am doing something wrong but when I use several different calculators and put in 3600 and 8% I get £288 as the amount of interest. So why are…

My brother needs to declare his accounts & also his investments. Bank accounts are simple - bank/building society name, sort code, account number & away you go. What about identifying his HL S&S ISA portfolio? Could it only possibly be the client ID number? Or is there another way to identify?

Spend it, Save it or invest it? That is the question?
Hi, I have recently received a lump sum of an inheritence about £125K. Looking at the current saving accounts and ISA's schemes it doesnt seem they offer much of a return. I have paid off all loans and c/c, but still have a mortgage of around £150k. Should I :- Spend it?- You only live once, treat the family, enjoy the…
