First Direct

Hi all,
Now that my 5% First Home Saver has gone from Santander I am looking to other banks to get a good return for my money. I have decided to open a First Direct regular saver at 8% in addition to my 2 Santander savings accounts.
I have searched for the thread explaining how to open one without having to have a current account paying in £1000 each month but can not find it.
Does anyone know how you gain this fantastic regular saver rate without swapping all of your regular banking to First Direct. I have read something about having £1 in another of their accounts but again cant find the info.
I dont really want to phone them without the knowledge of what I need to do and say "I want to fleece you for your savings rate but don't want to bank with you can you help me?" I think i will get the cold shoulder......

You won't find such a thread.
Opening the FD 8% regular saver is conditional on having a current account.
You don't need to switch to them just open an account.
To avoid the monthly fee you either have to credit the current account with £1500 per month or hold another product which can simply be a e saver account with a £1 balance.0 -
You must have a 1st (current account).
You can avoid the account fee and the £1500 per month requirement by holding another product, eg £1 in an eSaver.0 -
Thanks very much I will give them a ring tomorrow. 8% is much better than I am currently receiving even if it is only for a regular saver.0

By switching you become eligible for the £100 (sometimes £125) joining incentive. If you happy to forego that you can just open a FD account to add to whatever you already have.0
