A couple of questions about BT Answer 1571
I am sure when this first started there was an option that allowed you to pick up your home voicemails when you were away.I think this involved ringing your home number and keying in a code just as the answerphone message began. Is this still possible to do and if so, how? Also has anyone tried BT 1571 Text Alerts? This is…

Tesco USB phone keeps ringing when the call is missed
Hi, I just got the basic USB handset from Tesco to use with Sipgate/VOIPbuster through X-Lite. Everything is fine except that when there is an incoming call and it's missed, the USB phone still keeps ringing forever until I have to push the red phone button to stop it. Is there anyway to stop this, as I'm afraid my…

Onetel charging me for very old calls
I used Onetel from 1999 to 2004 for landline and some international calls. But they became no longer such a good deal, so I rang them in Sept 2004 and asked them to close my account which they said they had done. But I am still occasionally receiving bills from them. I got one in May 2005 for £1.11. They said this was for…

Silent call from 01979
Had a silent phone call yesterday and when I rang back 1471 it gave caller number as 01979 no other numbers. Has anyone else come across this. I've no intention of dialling back the number in case it's a scam.

Cheap ATA?
To put things in context: an ATA is a device you can connect to an Ethernet port and to an analog phone to make calls with a VOIP provider. Some time ago I remember there were some ATA (probably the Linksys PAP2) on sale at very good price. If I am not wrong they were sold at PCWorld and connected to a Vonage service and…

Got an online bill email from OneTel, but I'm not with them? Is it a con?
I have received an email purporting to be from OneTel (TalkTalk) saying my online bill is ready for viewing. It gives a link to a website which starts with https://secure1.onetel.net.uk (I've deleted the remainder of the link in case it is genuine). I'm not with them (I'm with Primus and 1899). Is this some kind of con, or…

BT want to charge me to reconnect?
Hi, I have been with NTL for many many years, after moving to them from BT. I have now decided to go back to BT for the line so I can have more options with broadband etc (as NTL's £24.99 is too expensive), plus other options on internet/broadband bundles. I contacted BT but they say they need an engineer to visit for a…
