Employers attitudes towards older staff 60+
I am just over 60 and was self employed for many years but now sold my small business. But I still need to work to keep my sanity but wondered if it was worth applying for jobs. I know B&Q and some others have a record for employing over 60's but I couldn't do the type of manual work expected as I have never done this as I…

Free Wills Fortnight
Official Insert This is a fantastic scheme, though sadly a bit lacking for those in the South East. Why do you need a will? If you die without one, your money, assets, property will automatically pass in a way directed by law, not your choice. This can mean the wrong thing going to the wrong person and much more going to…

Winter season flu jab gave me a severe cold/flu. How about you?
I posted this yesterday but it and all the answers have disappeared, so will try again. Some 30 odd years ago the firm I was working for decided that it was in their interest to give everybody a flu jab. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as they planned, as everyone including myself went down with a most severe dose of…

Senior Railcard £5 from local council
I've just discovered that my local council (Gwynedd) issue Senior railcards for £5 providing you don't have a bus pass or £20 if you already have a bus pass. I don't know if any other local authorities have similar offers but it would be worth checking locally if you are thinking of buying a senior railcard.
