Did you know that you can travel almost anywhere for £25 return if you are over 55? You need to make sure that the stations you are travelling to and from are served by First Great Western. (For London, just type in London, rather than a specific station.)
For instance,I cannot travel from my local station, Honiton to London Waterloo for less than about £70, but I can travel to Exeter for £5 and then to London Paddington for just £25 return. Google ' First Great Western Club 55' and click on the first item - (I'm not allowed to post the link as a new user I'm afraid.)
Then go down to 'Book your train tickets now' and click on the pink arrow.
You might have to try a couple of day and time combinations, but it will show you which times the club 55 tickets are valid. Its easy, and well worth it! Good Luck!

A very useful offer - a couple of extra points:
if you have a senior railcard there's an extra £5 off
you can buy the ticket at the station on the day at the same price. It's valid on any off peak train.
the offer ends on 13 November for outward travel - return is within one month0 -
and if you live in Scotland its only £15 return until 13 December for journeys within Scotland
