Winter season flu jab gave me a severe cold/flu. How about you?

I posted this yesterday but it and all the answers have disappeared, so will try again.
Some 30 odd years ago the firm I was working for decided that it was in their interest to give everybody a flu jab. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as they planned, as everyone including myself went down with a most severe dose of flu.
I vowed never to have a flu jab again and take my chances until now.
My doctor persuaded both myself and my wife, we are both over 65, that it would be in our best interests to have the seasonal flu jab and that it was perfectly safe as nowadays they use a deactivated/dead virus which wasn't the case before.
Reluctantly, I agreed and wish I'd never had done so. Three days after the jab which we had on the 10th of October, we both started getting a sore throat and all the symptoms of catching a cold. This cold/flu turned into a right humdinger and the worst I have had for years. It's lasted up until now and though we are a lot better it's not over.
Was it coincidence or bad luck that we both got ill? (I don't think so) or are other people experiencing the same.
Perhaps we were unlucky and would very much like to hear if you experienced any ill or no effects after you personally had this inoculation.
Information gleamed here would be very helpful to help me, and others, to make our minds up whether to have the vaccination again next year.

I got the seasonal flu jab on Friday as I am diabetic, I woke up Saturday with a thumping headache and wobbly legs, I was feeling out of sorts all day and that was after going back to bed a couple of times. Things eased off after my evening meal but the headache was still there when I went to bed.
I woke very early this morning, still with a slight headache but otherwise ok.
I have had the flu jag regularly for the last 10 years but never been affected in any way previously but if thats all there is to be, I would rather have that than run the risk of the full on flu.0 -
Didn't you post exactly the same query recently - what happened to the thread?
I know I replied that it had to be coincidence as you can't catch anything from a dead virus.0 -
not again...........Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0
