Accident liability
Not sure I have anywhere to go with this however... I was involved in an accident a few weeks ago. I was leaving a car park onto the access road to said car park (and to a few other places). Cars were parked all along the access road (possibly on double yellow lines) obscuring visibility for me leaving, which is pretty…

Car supermarket for used vehicles
Hello, what experience does anyone have of purchasing a vehicle online (so you don't see it first) where they deliver it to your home? Am considering a vehicle like this due to its distance from me. Am told I pay a small deposit, the car comes on a delivery truck, I can look over it and even test-drive it, and then if I…

Car sold without my permission
I was remanded in custody for 12 months for a non motoring offence. My sister-in-law emptied my flat on my behalf & stored the property at her house, this included moving my car to her private drive. I recently found out she had sold the car for scrap (along with my keys, log book, and tons of history), she lied to me…

Advice on Part-Exchanging My 2008 Honda CR-V for a 2017 Toyota RAV4 2.5 VVT-i Excel AWD TSS
Hi all! We're in the process of buying our first second-hand car and could really use some advice. We've put down a refundable deposit on a 2017 Toyota RAV4 2.5 VVT-i Excel AWD with 48,000 miles on the clock (in grey). The car is priced at £17,500. We visited the dealer to inspect the car and found a few issues: - There…

Insurers now have access to all your comparison site results?
Hi all, I called my car insurer to haggle down the renewal quote (following MSE advice page). I already had a cheaper quote using a comparison site (Compare The Market). The call centre operative said that they could see the results from my comparison efforts. This really shocked me. Isn’t accessing someone’s online…

Car not fully stopping sometimes at traffic lights
I bought a used BMW 320i. Last night coming to a light that was going to turn red I braked, but the car wouldn't stop. It kept trying to move at about 1-2mph, leaving me about 10-12 feet over the white stop line. No cameras but still worrying someone recorded it and even worse, that if it happens again and I have a…

Costco Tyres - beware!
Just had the most awful experience buying tyres from Costco. I've been a member of c 20 years and for the most part, buying from Costco is good value. Despite the fact the branch is 50 miles away, fitted prices for 4 tyres for my BMW X3 here were between £80 and £200 cheaper than elsewhere. So I logged on, entering my car…

Documents unobtainable
I purchased a van a while ago which did not come with the service documents. It was an ex council van and so servicing was done in-house. I have since contacted the said council to get hold of the service documents but they stated that they were unable to pass them onto me by law. Sounds a bit ridiculous, is this true?

No Claims Evidence Car insurance
I recently provided proof of my no claims car insurance. The company wouldn't accept the evidence as it was from an existing policy. They asked for proof from a cancelled policy. Has anyone come across this in the past?

Fuel filter change, noisy fuel lines?!
Earlier this month I changed the fuel filter in my 1.5 DCI K9K engine (NV200) and it's driving beautifully. But, that's where the good news ends. After 20 or so miles and over the usual engine noise this faint but present 'whine' developed in the background. Usually it gets to full pitch once the engines started to warm…

MOT-type checks outside of an MOT
Hi, there are a few bits on my old car
that are going to depend on the opinion of the MOT tester whether it'll get through with some work needing to be done, or lots of work. It's not in a great state but I've been told that it will depend on who looks at it. Is it possible to take it to the same garage that I would get to…

Voluntary Termination
Hi, I have a HP with Startline and am looking to do a Voluntary Termination. I have around £200 to pay before I get to the 50% limit. Faulty part
I had a car component replaced and then moved over 200 miles out of the area to live somewhere else. About 1 month later, the same problem has reoccurred, which was confirmed by a diagnostic test completed by a local garage. The original garage agrees that the fault codes are the same as the original fault they repaired…
