I have been using a Broker to arrange my car insurance for some time and  AXA was always their advised insurer
However this year the cost for car insurance through the broker was so high they put forward another insurer with a slightly lower quote

At this point I went on some comparison sites and I am able to get AXA insurance at a much better cost than that from my broker
The only difference I can see is total excess is £150 difference

Why is the quote from AXA through the broker so much higher

Is insuring the car with the AXA quote from the comparison site going to give me as good a level of insurance

Who do you think pays for the broker to stay in business? Commission on the policy.

As for "same policy" - read the paperwork.

If you are comparing Axa Direct and Axa via a Broker its highly likely the terms of the policy are different, depending on the broker in question they may be a standard product Axa offers via various different brokers or could be bespoke wording for that particular broker,

The use of an aggregator adds more complexity as some companies simply have differential pricing depending on distribution channel but many also have different products via different channels. As an example a former client gave everyone over 21 Driving Other Cars when bought via phone or web but didnt include DOC if someone got their quote via an aggregator. There were also differences in the excess, personal possessions limit, LE cover etc, some of these you could adjust to make them the same, others you couldn't.

Cannot comment explicitly on Axa, it's a vast organisation with many different products sold via many different channels.
