I waa involved in a accident when someone rear ended me whilst i was in traffic. My insurance is aviva online which are a pain to get any updates.

Do you think the vehicle (see photos) will be a write off. They are using ther own repairers called solus .

seems like crash bar is slighkty bent(csnt tell due tocthe natural curviture of the bar) bumpers gone, lower rear valance is cracked, it seems like thr soare wheel well is pushed in but doesnt crack but boot still opens

has angbidy had experience with aviva online(Images removed by Forum Team)

Definitely going to write it off.

    13yo generic-spec 1.6 petrol Focus, worth about £3k.

Even if it's just the complete rear bumper and crashbar, by the time it's supplied, painted, fitted, and the hire car paid for, it's cheaper for them to pay out and sell the salvage than to repair it.

But that's before the tailgate, the likelihood of rear valance and spare wheel well damage.

Push to retain the salvage, and a cheap used bumper off the 'bay. Run the thing until it falls apart.

Yup, for a 12 plate focus that's an insurance write off. Given that is going to be written off, have you considered asking the third party insurer what they would give you to settle the claim directly as that may be a quicker option?

Wasnt sure as unless i get underneath i csnt see any chassis damage just looks cosmetic

first time accident. Do they consider the couresty in the costs also? They ahavebt contacted me as of yet to arrange collection of vehicle, i already have a courtesy due to having to travel to work
accident happened on Thursday argued the toss and got car Friday afternoon from enterprise

Dont know if it just me but shouldnt thr gap be a bit more between wheel and panel towards the latch?

    That Focus is driveable.

Do not let them take it, and get the hirecar sent back asap.

If you have a hire car then it's not a courtesy car, at least in the traditional sense, as that would have been provided by the garage and only if the car is repairable/not an economic write off.  In most cases there is no direct charge for a courtesy car and in principle it's in the hourly rate for labour.

So is the hire car being provided under your Motor Policy because you bought some "guaranteed courtesy car", or whatever Aviva's terminology is, or is it a Credit Hire car given you were involved in a non-fault accident?

You would need to contact them yourself although the replacement car may well complicate that now.
