Backdated child benefit
Hello when my first daughter was born 9 years ago I wrongly believed that I was not eligible for child benefit. I’ve read various articles (on other sites) that talk about backdated claims. Can I put in a claim now for the years (2014-2016) that I was eligible for the benefit?

I'm 30, single and have no children but want to be a parent - I feel as if time is running out
Hi. This post represents something of a leap into the unknown for myself as I seldom discuss personal matters. I'm a man. I have known for a long time that I want to settle down and have children. I've wanted to since I was in my early 20s. I turned 30 recently and I was hoping to have already had children (or at least one…

Can I act as an Attorney for 2 people on the same Lasting Power of Attorney
Can a Lasting Power of Attorney cover 2 doners on the same
LPA. Covering Husband and Wife (Mother/Farther) for instance. Or do we need to
take out 2 LPA’s, one for the Mother and on for the Farther. We haven’t started
this process yet but I know I’m going to get asked this question.

Service charge payment when Tenants in common
My partner and I own a leasehold property as tenants in common, and we each own different shares of the property. We're not sure how to split the expenses included in the lease, such as the service charge and ground rent. We're considering two options: 1. splitting the charges equally, with each of us paying 50%, 2. or…

Writing a will and not have a clear person in mind to leave it all to
With a view to mortality - I recently got Life Insurance so that my mortage if any remains - would be paid off - and funeral expesnses would be covered (I'm all for being shipped off to the crematorium and skip the pointless theatrics). The insurance company offered a will writing service. This left me with a conundrum -…

Does a Lasting Power of Attorney allow this?
Am I right in thinking that where a person (the donor) still has capacity then the attorney/s may only act with the donor’s knowledge and express permission (and if the terms of the LPA allow that)? And am I also right in thinking that an attorney must not open a savings account of any kind in their own name using the…

Can I pay my estimation of tax on administration period before I get formal bill from HMRC?
Hello, I'd be very grateful for your thoughts. I'm an executor for my mother's estate. The admin period finished in Jan 2023 and I wrote to HMRC in Feb 2023 detailing interest earned on the estate during that time, and suggested the figure payable as income tax on it (20% of interest). To date I've heard nothing, and my…
