No one wants to do my job!
Guttering replacement, replacing the tiles over the porch and a bay window and a new glass roof on the back porch. Local recommendations because I can’t get any personal ones but long established companies up-to-date with companies house and positive online reviews (for what that is worth) Some companies just won’t come…

We had a glass panel replaced 6 years ago with an activ blue glass sealed unit. Recently the internal pane of the sealed unit shattered, spraying pebbles of glass all over the conservatory. Fortunately we were out at the time. The installer will not accept that the installation nor the pane was faulty, and is charging us…

Have CCTV at your home (exterior)?
I can see the potential for the term "CCTV" to become a sticky point but I'm pretty sure we all know what I'm on about - camera on your exterior wall recording your driveway, garden, whatever. I've actually bought one (not got round to fitting it yet) but I'm a little apprehensive about mounting it after recently coming…

Dc fix frosted glass
I got this today but my tumble dryer with condensation bubbles up the door or it falls off. Seems a good idea though. Sadly I can’t find a blind for the door. Is it more cost effective to have the glass replaced?

New carpet with a super king size bed
We have a typical 1930s 3 bedroom semi. We have a super king size bed with a very deep mattress in the biggest bedroom - not sure of measurements of the room, but it’s approximately twice the size of the bed. The carpet is looking a bit sad, ideally we’d like to replace it but we can’t envisage how the fitters could work…

Builder problems - failed buildings control inspection
TLDR: We spent £65k for the first stages of a £400-500k extension and renovation project on a builder I will call Paul. However the buildings inspector says that most of his work does not meet the required standards and will need to be taken down and redone. I’m worried that he has also breached the rules on my home…

Boiler service help before buying house
The seller has the boiler serviced in Feb 2024. It made us concerned that they have not had it done this year. Boiler was fitted 2013. There is areading of -5.45 on the fan. Is this something to be concerned about? It also stated that FGA calibration was due in August & not done. Are we effectively looking at a new boiler??

Can a Hive hub be reregistered?
It used to be the case that, once registered to an account, that was it - you took it with you when you moved home. I'm sure I read a year or so ago that they'd relaxed that tie, and would unregister a used hub, but I'm struggling to find a definitive answer. Anyone know? Ta.

Replace Strip lights with LED lights
There are some strip lights in my local bowls club clubhouse, there is only 1 working strip bulb out of 4, so I'm investigating replacing them with LED lights to save on energy costs. Has anyone got any experience of doing this. Cosmetically, as this is a clubhouse, they just have to be more functional than aesthetic. Fyi,…
