Thanks a lot Martin,
:xmassign: SInce first hearing how to save money by doing simple things, we decided firstly to change our mobile phone provider and instantly saved £70 a month, then moved mortgage provider ( we did have to pay a penalty as we were in a 5 year deal and still had three years to go, ) but by moving our mortgage and paying…

Free Kit Kats!
My local supermarket is closing down (Two of them in fact :( ) and they had packs of Kit Kats by the trolley full, down to 59p. I thought they were a bit expensive to say the shop was closing down but stuck two in my basket anyway. Imagine my surprise when I get home to find out they were part of a multi buy offer, and the…

Changed my whole way of thinking about money!
Hi All The most important thing I have got from this site is just to become more aware of what we spend & when. Not just a question of saving, its just not throwing money away on frivolous things. We are writing everything down that we spend & its a real eye opener! Savings so far per month: Changed ntl to SKY £25 Hubby…

Tesco/Morrisons/Asda (bogof rotation)
This is a habit that I have got into over the past 4 months or so, and it easily saves me £120 per month on my shopping bill. Basicaly the 'big 3' Supermarkets (Tesco, Asda and Morrisons) all have bogofs (buy one get one free) on a range of goods at any one time. In my experience Morrisons is the best, then Tescos followed…

half term trip to London the MSE way
In the spirit of saving money so we can refurbish our bathroom, we decided to take the kids to London on a shoestring. I was pretty pleased with the amount we saved. El cheapo train tickets with family railcard - £50 Manchester to London for 4 of us! Bargain Travelodge family room at Battersea - £26 a night! 7 day…

Tesco Clubcard
I have been having problems with my tesco clubcard because everytime i have moved house I have changed my address with no problem but a few years ago I registered for an account online with an old card. Then I phoned up and asked why I was losing all the points I had accumulated because I was 'opted in' for e-vouchers when…

Magazines
I looked into subscriptions for my partners magazines. She has Woman's Own 78p - Woman's Weekly 74p - Woman 78p. The cost for the year if she buys it everyday at Morrison is £117.52. If she buys it by subscription it would cost £166. Therefore it would be totally stupid if she bought by subscription.
