as a hard up mum of three i decided to look into getting an allotment my local council and maybe yours runs a club for kids giving out free seeds and paying for the allotment so we are quids in its also fresh air and a saving on gym membership :j

If I had the time and spinal health I'd have an allotment too, but I'm growing fruit & veg in the back garden instead, with DH doing the heavy digging.

I managed to get my council tax banding reduced from band e to band c and have just received a cheque for £3,465 (backdated to April 1993) Worth persevering!0
