If You cannot beat them join them.. Brexit will pump the market
I see that there are loads of no hopers and failures have now picked up on the latest mantra of "a no deal Brexit will crash house prices" rubbish, this board is now flooded with threads. Well hear is another one for you, might as well join in myself, I had breakfast with several estate agents and a few other connected…

The property crash supporters are now hoping on inflationary falls
Seems like the supporters of a large rapid fall in house prices have now given up and have turned there hopes to an inflationary drop over the next few decades :rotfl: Now at last there might be a little truth to this and their new scenario, but after 20 years of waiting and having to wait another 20 years plus, was it…

London H&F and E&C sub 500k market hot hot hot!
I've been looking for a friend at flats in Hammersmith and Elephant and Castle in the 400k budget. Avoiding the ex-council and lower ground floor or above commercial etc... What a surprise! Offers are coming in close to asking. I thought Brexit uncertainty would make sellers desperate to sell. Put in a couple of offers at…

Negative equity - should we sell?
Hi I know noone has a crystal ball but I would be grateful for your opinions. I am in Northern Ireland and bought a 2 bed terrace in 2006 for £125k on an interest only mortgage (at one point before the crash it was worth £250k! crazy!). After the crash it went down to approx £60k. Although not ideal I rode it out thinking…

Sellers being unrealistic about pricing
We are looking at houses in the surrounding area, no luck so far but have noticed a pattern with the same houses coming on the market over and over again. Allot of these are listed with offers above style listings. Sellers seem to think they can dictate the price to the market. So if they demand offers which are above what…

to buy or to rent
we need to be out of our rented flat in January and can't decide what is the best course of action to follow. we are fortunate enough to have an offer accepted on a 2 bed terraced house yesterday. it's top end of our budget and needs at least £15k work doing in the next year or so. not sure if we should go ahead with the…

Abandoning a house
My house which I own outright is very large 4000 sq ft part 17 cent. it is a nightmare to heat as no central heating and hot water it leaks water from the roof and loads of water pipes, threadbare carpets and lots of fused lights. I have had enough and plan to abandon it to whatever - can anyone stop me - tough if they can.

When a listing just sit there with no reduction and no sale
What's going on inside the seller's head when a listing sits on the market for nearly 6 months, unreduced and unsold? I don't want to view, since the stagnant listing history reveals that the seller is most probably a rigid and unreasonable person.

Predictions for the next 2 years
Just a little bit of fun:) What do you expect to see in the housing market in the next couple of years? I am only raising this question because I have in the past few weeks revised my own estimates. I was expecting with Brexit and the political upheaval we are going through right now that Property prices this year could…

Labours abolish private schools pledge.
Another winner by the Labour Party, and from such sincere working class politicians.....oh wait shami & Diane send their kids to private schools, mr Corbyn himself went to prep school.....typical champagne socialists, do as I say not as I do..... And the policy is fantastic, let’s scrap private schools, dump the thousands…

UK house prices have witnessed their first September fall since 2010, according to a closely-watched gauge, as Brexit uncertainty continues to dampen sales. The average price of property coming to market fell by 0.2 per cent in September, the house price index from real estate website Rightmove showed. CityA.M. Rightmove…

Fearful buyers - what is the source of your fear?
I'm fearful about buying now because of the falling prices in the south, missing out on better prices down the road, or buying somewhere that may be difficult to re-sell if needs be without suffering a loss. I'm interested to know what the source of other fearful buyers' fear is? Perhaps Brexit predictions? Or keeping up…

Who pays?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zk2t7nb The piece is about the cost of moving to zero carbon energy but what piques my interest is the suggestion that the cost of doing so could be met by different parties. To me they are all the same: Households: Higher consumer prices - obviously directly paid by everyone…

Honest advice re housing market
Hope I've put this thread in the right place? I'd really appreciate some honest advice/opinions please. We'd like to downsize to a smaller property - don't have to but would like to. Our house has been on the market for around 4 months in the £600k bracket on rightmove. Our agent advised us to drop £25k last month as we'd…

Should there be a compulsory Netflix licence?
I pay I think about £12 a month for the Netflix package that allows 4 users, 4KHD, and you can watch from your laptop. It would be a lot better for me if everybody who owns a TV were forced to buy a Netflix subscription as well. My subscription would fall and everyone would then get to enjoy the benefits that I enjoy, such…
